Hello, as far as I can tell, this game is nolonger sold. If one wants to get their hands of Space Empires IV or V gold, how do you go about doing so?
Thanks for reading.

Strategy First has it for sale (as Deluxe) for 20$ US:

It's also in some retail stores these days like Gamestop etc.

Do not buy the digital download version; it's infested with evil copy-protection software that won't let you upgrade your RAM. If you can't find it in a store, try to mail-order a CD from Strategy First.

Gamestop has it. Or at least the store in mall by me.

Having a box is better. We all know that.

Welcome to the forums. On the right, we have complete nutcases. On the left, we have total loonies. Straight ahead, we have unsorted basketcases.

The Steam or digital river download version ties itself in to your computer's unique fingerprint (OS, hardware, etc) so when you make changes to it, the game defaults to demo mode and you have to get support to get a new code etc.

Huh...well that's what I'd call a crappy, big-brotherish, invasive form of copy protection.

Sounds like a bad way to release a game that practically lives on patchs and modding...

Now that I think about it, I think he was looking for hints to a free version download site. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Not like it's difficult to find from less than legal sources, unfortunate as that may be. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

With some newer games I found it easier to find a working 'free' version than get my legit version running. :/
Advance warning for SE5, I suppose. I certainly won't be getting the DL version now. Especially since Steam DOESN'T have to work like that..if it works like that it was imposed from the outside.
Given that SE4:G has NO copy protection, that means it came from Strategy First. Not a good sign.

The CD version from Strategy First or the new retail Deluxe version do not have any copy protection either.

Huh? Isn't that a little paranoid? Can someone not ask where to get a game that is seemingly out of print without being a pirate?

Sure they can Fyron. But do you honestly think someone would buy the game when they can get it for free? My question is who the hell is the low life peace of [censored] that uploaded SEIV to a torrent or P2P site in the first place?
