Run this test case. Start a game with a custom map (or maybe any map don't know).

Play to turn 5 and save. Quit SE IV and reload - no problems. Play to turn 9 and save. Quit and reload - no problems. Now wiithout quiting load turn 5 - don't do anything, then load turn 9. Now play to turn 11 save. Quit and reload - error. Now reload turn 9 and do the EXACT same two turns, then save, quit and reload - no problems. Now load turn 9, then load turn 5 and save, then load turn 9 and save. Now quit SEIV and reload turn 5 - error, reload turn 9 - error.

The error occurs if you load another game without quiting. Another example. Quit, then load a game successfully. Then just reload the same game, then save and quit. Attempt to reload that game and you get the error.

You have just saved the game, then you do one turn realize you did something stupid and reload - you are toast because when you save the game it will be corrupted.

Can I be an honorary beta tester now?

Did you mailed this to MM?

Does this happen with ver. 1.35 only?

Yes I mailed it to MM, and the only time I ever experienced this bug was with 1.35. I am just glad I figured it out, for I am finally enjoying a game after two weeks of frustration.

DAMN. Just encountered your problem, yes on a modded map, not only were my two save games toast but all the autosaves were as well. ARRGGHH! Hopefully MM can get this bug rectified SOON....Till then, make each move as if it were in 'real time', there now truely is 'no going back!'.

Deathstalker,

You can go back, you just have to Quit SEIV and restart the game. As long as I do that EVERYTIME I load a game, I do not get the error. I only get the error if I load a game without restarting. So if you want to go back to a previously saved game, quit SEIV and then restart the game and then load the desired game and you should have no problems.
