View Full Version : Star Wars Mod?

Hi everyone.
I was wondering if the Star Wars Mod was finished or if anyone could point me to what happened to it. I remember someone was working on it before I disappeared and I think AT had created some star wars ship sets for them to use with the mod. However I can't remember who was working on it specifically and a search for it just gave me a bunch of random stuff about Star Trek 11? Also I couldn't search pbw because it wasn't loading whatever that is.
So any help would be great... and it seems that since I disappeared the SEV release got pushed back by alot.

There have been numerous attempts at a full-blown Star Wars mod, but for some reason none of them have ever been completed. The community would certainly welcome one, and there's nothing technical (other than FTL) that would make it more difficult to create than any other mod.
You could give it a shot.

Or, you could always play Carrier Battles mod with the Imperial and Rebel shipsets that Atrocities posted earlier.
Provided you aren't hung up on the pointless minutae of canon, of course.

If you want to try a SW mod that's a little different, try the Sci-Fi Crossover mod, which includes Star Wars, Star Trek and Babylon 5, if memory serves me right. I don't recall a lot of shipsets, but then it has been awhile. Maybe someone update it?

I had a SW mod nearly completed when my system crashed in June. I thought I had it on back up, but I did not, I had an older version that was not worth keeping. I am just sick over having lost so much work that I haven't been able to restart the mod that I had nearly completed.

I made some very heavy changes to the SW Rebellion mod, but I'm so bad at AI programming that it's really boring unless you control multiple factions, and then it takes FOREVER. It also has some serious balance issues.

I guess I will have to just get off my butt and restart the mod that I was working on. So much work lost.... so much lost. Its hard to start over again. But I guess even with SE V looming a new mod for SE IV might be a good thing.

It would indeed!!!
Just because SE-V is coming doesn't mean that there will be a complete drop of SE-IV. And I know personally it'd be great to see a fully functional mod for Star Wars, or even Babylon 5.

Really? Will people still play IV when V comes out? Why?

I'll still play SEIV. Why do I think I will? Well, I still play SEIII from time to time in addition to other games, so I don't doubt I'll play SEIV too.

Personally, I'll continue to play SE-IV for many reasons. I have never been one to blindly buy into the idea that newer is automatically better. I'm weighing what I'll lose from SE-IV against what I'll gain in SE-V, and so far for me personally the math doesn't favor a switch over.
A new mod, especially if it comes from someone as talented as AT has proven to be with his previous efforts, would be well worth playing in my opinion.

Depending on what kind of computer I have working when V comes out, I maybe forced to continue to play IV no matter what. But I don't think I'll discontinue playing it altogether. I've spent a lot of time on this game, and I don't think i'll quit playing.

I think no one with a system that is say five to six years old will have any problems running SE V. Older say, windows 95/98 might have a problem but thats only if they have old crappy video cards. I think anyone who has at least an acient 3DFX voodoo I card and newer won't have any problems running SE V.

I intend to put off buying a new computer until I've seen the SEV system requirements. I've already got two games (given as gifts) that my 7+ year old system can't run, and two more I'd like to buy that I know I can't run on this machine.
