Is there any way to tell the AI to NOT use a certain weapon mount even if it could, or to only use it for certain weapons?

I recently trashed a pair of battleships (2000kT each) with a mix of 6 DDs, 6 CAs, and 2 CLs (400kt, 800kt, and 600kt respectively) and only lost a single CA. Confused, I checked out the comp's BB design and found that it only had two weapons: a pair of spinal mount Particle Beam VI's, each of which eats up 400kt.

First off, I had never intended for a ship to have more than one spinal mount.

Second, I really only want the AI using the mount on already large weapons (like Railguns and WMGs).

Anyone know how to do this?

The AI uses the largest mount that will fit, BUT I belive it goes down the list, so putting the big boy up top would prevent the AI from using it.

I don't think you can specify other than that..

If you don't want the AI to use a mount at all you could 'double space' the mount. In other words, when you list it in the CompEnhancement file just double space the entry, the computer dosn't read anything after the double space (IIRC). Or you could use the min tonnage specs creatively......I've got a mod in the data section for different mounts for weapons/componants, take a look, it might help with what you want.

Double spacing the mount is stupid.
Anything after the double space IS NOT EVEN LOADED by SE4, so thats the same as deleting the whole mount.

Plus it screws things up when you try to add more stuff to the file.

Whoops! (embarrased), this is what happens when you post at 4am. Definitly wasn't thinking, somehow I thought that the AI wouldn't use the mount but it would still be available for the player to pick. Should have went to bed http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif
