I'd like to install TampaGamers soundmod but I'm concerned that overwriting the TDM modpack components file with the sound mods components file may cause problems.

Am I right?

Is there a workaround?

Thanks

As far as I know, the TDM has the orginal components file from MM. I think that the one Tampa made works fine with the TDM and will not cause any issues. I think the reason they do not add it to the TDM is that it changes a data file from the one that comes with the game rather then adds to the game and some people may not want to use his sound file.
So you should be fine with adding it.
I am sure Tampa will confirm this or correct me when he logs in.

I THINK (but am NOT sure) that the sound file hasn't been updated. If the sound file is 1.30 patch and you overwrite the 1.35 comp file you will lose some weapon abilities. Shard cannons went from rate of fire 2 to 1 and Combat Sensors gained a +5%/level to hit, there are probally some other diff I didn't notice yet. You are best taking the original vs the new and just changing .wav files.(Until Tampa or someone corrects me or Posts an update http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif)
Hopefully helped and not hindered.....

I think Tampa's latest sound mod uses the same component file. You could download the examdiff program in the tools section of the mod archive run it against the two component files.

The SoundMod over in the mod section
http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/Forum25/HTML/000018.html

has been updated for SE 1.35. You should be able to drop the revised Components.txt in the TDM-ModPack\Data folder without any effect to the races. If you want, you can also create a \Sounds subdirectory in the TDM-ModPack directory and place the revised sounds in there if you do not want to rewrite your original ones. Hope this helps.
