Today I installed Service Pack 2 for Win XP on my parent's computer (I know, should have done it a long time ago, but I was lazy http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif ).

Anyways, I then went and continued my game of Warcraft III, which, until then, had worked just fine. Now, the framerate has dropped from acceptable down to about (literally) 1 FPS, sometimes less. It seems to be a little more than coincidence that this happened immediately after SP2 was installed.

Does anyone have any idea what would have caused this, and is there anything I can do to fix it?

I turned all the graphics down to their lowest level, the sound quality as well, and now it's playable, but I'd rather play it at the medium detail settings I had it at before, rather than rock bottom settings.

Many thanks.

Have you tried uninstall/ reinstall of the game? That's the first thing I would try.

Well...currently my game CD's aren't with me (though I do own them), and I'm using a No CD patch in order to play the game without the CD's. Note that the No CD patch isn't the culprit, as I've played for several hours after installing it without any problem.

Reinstalling the video drivers could possibly work.
