Hmmm? One of you had to. You brought the Curse with you, too. My apps/docs hard drive has just died. Luckily I just did a backup of my documents folder a few days ago, but I still need to re-install all those programs... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif
Time to start searching for the 1.91 and 1.95 patches...

It wasn't me, honest!
The Canadian hard drive curse moves south. Come my fellow Canadians, we are free!

Actually, I think it just headed west a bit. It snuck down around here about 6 months ago. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/Sick.gif

I'm on the east coast and haven't had a single problem for ages.

Don't speak about it, it will go away if no one speaks about it!

Here in B.C., west coast of Canada we've recently had a few hard drive failures that I know of. These Compaq / HP computers especially seem to have a lot of problems.

Thats because HP and Compaq are made by HP and they both suck.

In my experience, I've found Compaqs to be quite decent, although for HPs I cannot say the same.

i don't know about judging component quality via the pc brand per se.... in fact I almost exclusively judge the quality of a component by the brand of the component, and the quality of the pc brand by the brands of components it uses. western digital hard drives have _never_ failed me. I keep my entire godly mp3 collection on a 250 gig western digital external I've had for 4 years now.
