This site says "In Stock".

Is this true? Why austrailia? I mean, nothing against austrailia, but how is is on store shelves there, 2 weeks ahead of the rest of the world? What are they doing right?

Or is this balony?

Interesting but I think they have their date wrong, not that we don't get some things early. For example Osprey books (not the bird, the publisher with military history etc) Lately I have seen their books come out and I buy them but when I check their website they claim it doesn't come out for another month. Still if I have the time I might go check.

It might be for real though. Other players have from Australia have said they've picked up the game on se5.com's forums.

hmm. I'm not working tomorrow and although I had something important to do I suppose I'll have to go check my local EB, although last time I asked about it (because they stocked SE4) they knew nothing about it.

Apparently it's true.

Darkbeholder on the IRC channel is in .au and apparently has a copy. I have no reason to doubt him, but of course I have no way to verify it.

I did some calculations btw... unless you want to pay insane amounts for priority shipping it will just be faster to wait for the actual release.

Well if SOMEONE has it, then maybe ebgames WILL be shipping it tomorrow, as their website says...

The question is, will Malfador release the 1.05 patch right away or wait for SFI to publish?

I just called an EB/Gamestop store. The website says they ship on the 5th. The store guy says that's actually the day they receive the game. If you pre-order, they would call you that same day and you can pick up the game the day after (i.e. the 6th, this Saturday). I'm going over there tomorrow morning. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

Well what do ya know they did have it. I bought half their copies (well 1 of 2 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif). I remembered this quote and couldn't help but notice it said version 1 when I installed, but I see now this is something that needs to come out soon. I ran a test to see if it had the same thing that stopped me bothering with the demo. 2 fleets each with 3 battleships with alltech and 20 fighters. As with the demo as soon as they start firing the game freezes. I just hope this isn't my system which should have no problem. The manual says to try reducing my settings. Who knows.

Um...the sixth willl be on FRIDAY, not Saturday.

Jeesh! I thought some one would have stated this before me. More often scroll over your time in the bottom right corner or double click it to see the calender.

EB Games is sort of notorious for not ordering enough copies. If you really want to be sure, pre-order it.

And don't count on it being there; SFI still says the 16th. We'll see..

ok - sending it by Express Courier (assuming it's under 250 grams - unlikely) will be $45.50 AUS on top of the cost of the game (more if it weighs more actually)
Then you've got import VAT to add to it.... (15% of game value)
*and* on top of all that - express courier from AUS takes 4 days (after your handy aussie chum picks up the game that is)

I just preordered it from a GameStop Store. I did not have any problem and the guy said it may be in (tomorrow) on Friday!

As much as I feel for youall that have miles or days to drive to reach a computer store. There is one I can walk to from work.

I picked by my copy of SE V 2 days ago at a EB Games shop, so it can be confirmed that it is released in Australia.
Now to just find time to play the game.

Hi i've been playing se4 for a while (ok like 3 years) and i love the game so when the deluxe came out i got it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif now i'm waiting for se5 and i went to ebgames as well they don't even have it on the computer!!!!!! and when (strategy first) slaped "their" logo on it i asked then about the games put out by strategy first NONE of the SE were listed so here I am gripeing about it.

Oh ya to all the people that made the MODS a big thank you for making SE4 a great game BETTER http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

"so when are the mods coming out for SE5" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

From what I understand from the beta-testers, probably on release day... Whatever day that actually ends up being in the next 2 weeks.

@!$ ESC key. I had a longer post and then I nudge it and it dissapears. Shorter version.

Not available or listed in NA?, yet I've had it since wednesday. Perhaps NA distribution is harder than just sending it to Australia.

Even though it is a fringe game I find it odd my copy was half the price of a new game. Sort of like it didn't sell well and they cut the price.Something like the book store here that brings out new books and immediately cuts the price, saying "get it while on special". I would assume that's universal.

Bad marketing decision to wait until after the weekend is over. It should have been released on friday so that everyone can talk about it -- increases sales that way.

Phoenix-D
October 7th, 2006, 12:57 PM
It isn't, officially, supposed to be out yet. The official release date is on a Monday.

As it is, all the EB stores in my area show:
Copies in Store: 0. More on the Way? No.

EBGames' website has gone from pre-order to 'usually ships in 24 hours', their generic now shipping status.

EB store in Scarborough Town Center:

Hadn't heard of it, didn't know when it was coming out, didn't know when it would be in the store. Not even listed on their computer.

Phoenix-D
October 7th, 2006, 01:21 PM
I'd suggest ordering it online or reserving it in the store, then. Might be one they don't even ship unless they get pre-orders.

EB does that on even popular games sometimes. :/Can't count the number of times I've gone in on release day and "Sorry, we can't sell you any- all our copies are for pre-orders only."

Haven't found SE5 in any of the other stores around here, though.

Ludd
October 7th, 2006, 01:34 PM
I couldn't pre-order or reserve in store because the game doesn't exist on their computer!

Strategy First is Canadian, right?

Phoenix-D
October 7th, 2006, 01:38 PM
It should, because its my local store's computer and definitely online.

Yep, they're Canadian.

Ludd
October 7th, 2006, 01:46 PM
Are you in the States Phoenix-D?

We don't have a Canadian EB-Games website. All ordering has to be through the US site, and in US dollars.

Perhaps ordering through Strategy First is the way to go for me.

Phoenix-D
October 7th, 2006, 01:54 PM
SFI will be slower; they aren't even allowing ordering until the 16th.

Try gamestop- they might have a Canadian site.

Ludd

Gamestop = EB games.

Phoenix-D
October 7th, 2006, 02:37 PM
I know, but they haven't quite finished merging, and their systems are sometimes different.

Not relevent in any case, gamestop.ca is a completely different company.

Any recommendations for ordering from Britain?

Ludd
October 7th, 2006, 02:57 PM
Gamestop.com will refer you to EB stores in Canada.

Gamestop.ca have two stores: One in Markham, and one in Pickering. Both are small, basically Console and card games.

If I order from the States, SEV wiill cost about $66.00 canadian.

Life is hard in the Great White North. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

That's £30, which is the same as full price but with shipping from the US. And a free copy of SEIV! Which I already own. :|

At one time I used to live near you - Isabella and Church. Now I live near the zoo. Unfortunately Scarborough has become 'crime central'. But we do have a Staples close by and I will try it tomorrow. Right now I'm watching baseball, having a drink and relaxing. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
