I have current sarted a game where to win you need 300% of your oppents score. So to with I need a high score.

Is there is diffrence in statagy in playing for score then playing to take over the galaxy

I wouldn't think so. You could destroy everyone else in the galaxy to lower their scores while raising yours with having many ships.

Or you could just stay in your little corner of the quadrant and improve what you have until you win.

The most significant difference between the two paths to victory is how you build your ships. Because the game assigns the same score to an empty hull as one decked out with your top weapons, you could choose to build a large number of empty starships and bases in order to quickly boost your score. These ships wouldn't need to fight since the goal is to boost your score. Of course, this is really taking advantage of how the game works...

If the two players are far apart, build lots of big, empty hulls, no units. If the two players are close, first build some small attack ships (LC and below) and take out as much as you can, then defend with them and build lots of big, empty hulls, some units to help with defense.

Or, if you don't want to exploit the rules like that, just use bigger ships than normal (IE. I normally won't build a ship bigger than BB, 800kT, but in this game I would build BaseShips, 1500kT, instead and build more BSY/Defense bases than normal, and decrease overall unit production).
