SE V: How Do You Turn Off

How do you turn off that God awful annoying, unbearable music during game set up? I don't want to listen to that tripe each and every time I set up a game. That music is so bad that it makes my ears bleed when I hear it. If they need want information from people, just sit them in a room and make them listen to this music. I promis you they will give up any infor you want after just 10 seconds.

My God I would rather listen to the sound of someones finger nail being dragged acrossed a chalk board over this music!

Turning off your speakers works well. Other than that, I haven't found anything else that'll do it.

Just turn off the music in game options once you get into a game.

BUT you have to do this EACH time you play! I want to turn it off FOREVER!

..no, you don't. I did it once, I've not had to do it again.

You could find the music file and delete/replace it.

[edit] the file is really easy to find too... just replace it with another mp3 you actually like.

Rename the mp3? Or substitute your own mp3?

EDIT: tabbed browsing is a great idea but I really ought to refresh before replying.

Settings.txt has a music setting right at the top (just like it did in SE4)...

I think the title music owns, it's very imperial march. I could(and do) listen to it outside the game. Big step up from SEiv music. It kinda reminds me of Total Annihillation or MoO2 music.

I don't mind the music, but I would be tempted to replace it with "the prophesy theme" from Dune or "darth vader's theme" from whatever movie(s) he was in.

Allow Music := TRUE
to
Allow Music := FALSE

Ok, first, grab a notebook and a pen, you'll probably need to take some notes.

Turning off SE V takes quite an effort of will. First, you must bring up the game menu. You will need to click on the "QUIT" button.

Next, go to the Windows Start Menu, and select "Turn Off Your Computer" or "Shut Down". This may take a while, depending on how many programs you have open.

After that, you will need to unplug your computer. Failure to do this may result in an urge to turn it back on and reload SE V.

Once the computer is off and unplugged, place it and the SE V install disk inside of a fireproof and waterproof safe. Be sure that you do not know the combintion to the safe, only someone trustworthy may know it.

Load the safe into a vehicle, and drive to the nearest large body of water. Take it out on a boat a few miles, and dump it in the water.

When you return from that, you must destroy all credit cards, lest you purchase a new computer and copy of SE V. It is also advisable to have poloroids of yourself posted in game stores, so the employees know not to sell you a copy.

It may also be necessary to commit some minor law infraction, so you will be kept safe in a jail cell, unable to restart SE V.
