Yeah, I saw that in popular science a few weeks ago. At the time of the writing, though, it was just theory.

As one who does research in this field, let me just tell you all that "the devil is in the details." Don't get your hopes up for an invisibility cloak. Still, it's pretty cool.

I wonder if that same technology could harden electronic devices from EMP's in an atomic air blast. You would think it could if it were 'tuned' properly.

You can already make an object resistant to EMP blasts. Simply encase it in a faraday cage.
Did you know that any electronic devices placed in a microwave is perfectly safe from an EMP blast? To prevent everything outside the microwave from being cooked slightly, the inside of the microwave is protected in a faraday cage.
