Has anyone been able to get an enemy empire to surrender in SEV? I have not.

not me either, even though I'm clobbering them and >10x their score.

Yeah, same situation with me. I have all of their bases, ships, fighters, etc. destroyed and all planets blockaded and they still won't give up.

It's because the AI knows ground combat ain't working right. It's mocking you, you see, and making light of your inability to actually conquer them. A virtual nose-thumbing, if you will.

Ground combat can be buggy at times, but it works for me.

Ground combat works for me as well. It's just that when you conquer all their worlds you do not get their technology like when they surrender. I actually am sending Aaron a request to allow technology stealing when a world is conquered ala MOO.

Thats the way SEIV worked too. If they surrender, you get their tech. If you conquer them completely, you get nada.

I've found that troop pathfinding is hit or miss, mostly miss. If they have to go past much of anything blocking them, or sometimes for no reason at all, they just freeze, or spin around in little circles.

Fighters, however, can fly around killing stuff no problem.

I think the problem is that the surrender request isn't viewed as a request by the AI so it doesnt accept/refuse it.

Well, in Balance mod, I've got a neutral down to one planet with just one research center on it, and they're telling me "[censored] YOU, WE'LL TAKE YOU ALL ON WITH OUR KNOWLEDGE" eveyr time I demand they surrender. I think it's just the good old fashioned tendency of 4x AIs to fight to the death or surrender to somebody else just to spite you.
