View Full Version : Com Mimic too powerful?

I'm guessing its probably been discussed before, but I am really starting to think the com mimic intel project is way too powerful. I'm playing in a large galaxy with 6 other AI's. Despite the fact that I have 10 counter intel 3 projects the Rage managed to turn all 4 of my allies against me within the span of 3 turns. I think it's ridiculous that one message from a relatively inexpensive intel project manages to wreck a partnership of 8 years. I am not saying its impossible but they managed to wreck every treat I had. What's especially annoying is how hard it is to get anyone to go back to being at peace with you, I managed to get one ally back and the Rage immediately hit me with another com mimic. Oh well guess I reactivate special directive 18 and exterminate the Rage.

It's quite possible that they weren't comm mimicking *you*, they were hitting your allies..or they were doing both.

Well I was getting the message that had faked some of my empires communications which I think is what you see if the project is directed at you.

Yeah I thinking about modding it somehow. It just annoys me the way it trashes long peaceful relationships instantly despite the fact I'm dumping in over 500k into 10 counter intel 3's and 2 intel sabotages.

You should be able to post a message saying "Hey it was a mimic, we didn't do it!" to AI players like you can with humans

jc173 I agree completely with you that the communication mimic is to powerful and I suggested to MM that they change it in the way it just increases the anger level between the two empires, but not leading directely to war.
What you can do yourself is to increase the cost of the project and the needed tech level: I gave it level 4 and 200000 points!

I agree. It would also be nice if the effect was not always to declare war, but was a random diplomatic message.
