People who contributed to the original image mod: I would love to include your image in the new pack but we need high res SE5 style images. You images will not be converted up to se5. All submissions new and old should be mailed to me at:
cwombat at gmail dot com
Here is a draft of the license that the SEV Image Pack will be released under, it was created by numerous members of the SE modding community. Please post feedback on it.

Where should I send submissions?

All submissions should be sent to:
cwombat at gmail dot com
Make sure you have imagemod in the subject and all images are sent in the proper image format for use by SE5

As per discussions elsewhere, I suggest re-naming it to the "Image Pack" to avoid confusion with the mod term as a first order of business. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I don't think that is a good idea; we should start from a clean slate to ensure that everything is of high quality (particularly the larger images SE5 requires). Just upsizing SE4 images is going to look bad, as will using smallish 128x128 images in a 512x512 slot.
And yes, the name "image mod" does need to go. "Image pack" is not generic enough though, and precludes sounds.
Also, we still need to hash out the creative commons style license for submissions...

I agree with Fyron - the higher quality of submissions means better-looking mods across the board.
Maybe we could package the images/sounds/models with stuff like devnull's editor and call it the "SEV mod kit"?

I thought we excluded sound as part of the Image Pack ("Media Pack") in discussion at SE.net because it was unlikely that the sounds would be original and non-copyrighted?
Models / Shipsets could form a "Shipset Pack" subcategory in the new pack. In fact, it is relatively easy to modify the exist race ships/models for neo-standard purposes - which could form the foundation of the pack.

What about "Community Bonus Pack"? It's used in lots of game communities to describe general packages that are often compilations of lots of non-mod community-developed stuff, like maps, sounds, textures, etc. which is more or less what we're doing here, but our purpose is a little more specific. I suppose this is a kind of "expansion pack for modders"?

I wanted to work on some planet textures, but something I am doing is causing se5 (demos) to crash... especially when choosing the system in the minimap or directly via the planet list.

We should probably include a requirement to use a unique prefix for your set for the image types that can have arbitrary names. Planet type pictures spring to mind. This way, we don't need to worry about numbers for them, or overlapping names.

So we're calling it Image Mod then?
It seems to me that this has the potential to include alot more than just images...
