Have you ever boughten anything, aside from a game, that you thought you wanted but in reality you had no need of?

For me it was my lap top. While it is cool to have a lap top, I really have no need for one. Sure I can lay in bed eating dorito's and watch a DVD, but aside from that I don't especially have a need for it. It was a useless purchase.

But its still cool to have one though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

books, lots of books, fiction, referennce, programming, varous computer books, but I rarely et the chance to sit down and read them all. They are collecting dust...

I've often bought gadgets that didn't live up to their hype. I can't think of a specific one, usually, I just toss it and try to forget about it ...

I think this actually makes me a more cautious shopper. I often don't buy something, like an expensive delicacy, or a dessert, or evan another gadjet -- always holding to the possibility that I'll end up disappointed, and out some money.

[EDIT]
I remember my worst offence. I bought a palm-top computer, spent $1000, never used it except to play Solitaire. Until the touch screen wore out. It is a primo instrument, HP 620LX, full keyboard, runs Windows CE, but just not useful. I thought it would replace my desktop, but wireless internet was too expensive back in 1999 when I bought it. I still have it, I really should donate it to a worthy cause.

A bit of both. I've got about 3-400 books I'll probably never get round to reading, and I've bought three laptops none of which I really used but I gave them to relatives who'd rather have a laptop than a full on desktop. They were all under a grand so cheap for an Xmas present.

OTOH the Palmone Tungsten E2 I bought reconditioned for 70 quid has been a godsend.

Wives usually count, if they have had a basic elementary education.

Have the complete set of STNG on video. Talk about having something like a lap top, at least you can get some use from it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Do you get massages? I guess I need to upgrade my wife with the latest service functions.

Please notice the bold remarks from me... I'm at work so no chance of getting caught by the wife http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif although my boss don't share my opinion that this forum is an essential tool in a laboratory http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
