What do you need to do to make a ring world? I have the tech but the only ships the parts fit on would be a starbase.

1st you need the tech (U have)
2nd you need a star base (big enough)
3rd a star and LOTS of time
also need a space yard ship to build them you can only fit 1 ring world comp on a star base so will need to build 11 bases (some mods have smaller comps so can put on base ship. good luck http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

This has been asked many times. use the search (top right, beside the "post a message" button) to get lots of details.

I would really suggest ditching the rings for dyson spheres. They're twice the size and only one tech level higher.

Anyways, to build a ring/sphere world, you have to build 11 or 21 starbases over top of the star.

You need to have a total of:
5 cables/5 plating/1 ring generator for a ring, or
10 cables/10 plating/1 sphere generator for a dyson sphere.

build the starbases in the same square as a star, then select the base with the generator and use stellar manip.

If you look through the old Posts, there are many ways to speed up, reduce costs, and other ideas.

I thought the sphereworld generator was two tech levels higher? (And they're EXPENSIVE tech levels, too http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif ). Of course, since you're having to build huge components, you can probably research the sphereworld components by the time you finish the ringworld generator...
