Hi guys. Has anyone run into a problem with ships not moving over several turns? Orders were cleared and reordered to move but ships stay put. Even new ships are not moving. Thanks.

Not to be insulting but I have to ask the obvious. Did you put engines on the design? I now that sounds nuts but when laying out a ship with weapons and armor it is not unheard of to miss the engines. Second question are they not moving at all or are they just moving one hex per turn. In other words did you make sure that you put supplies on the ship? The engines will hold a default amount of supplies but not enough to sustain them without additional sources. This second question doesn’t’ sound like your problem as you are saying even new construction is not moving. Please check the above two as the first (no engines) really sounds like the problem you are having.

Thanks for the quick reply President-Elect-Shang. No insult taken. Ships all have engines and plenty of supplies. This is a 70+ turn game we are playing. This has just happend the last four or five turns. Not efected me just my friend. Ships are given orders and the next turn they have not moved and have no orders. Thanks .

More details please. Was this SEIV or SEV? Was the move order to a place that ths ships could get to? i.e. did it have a clear path without going thru known minefields or "systems to avoid"? Were the ships in a fleet with 1 or more disabled ships?

Sorry should have said what game. Playing latest patched SEV. All ships empire has are not moving. Even colony ships are not loading population.

Do they show up as having movement points?
Check your empire options\orders tab for the ship orders:

is the "ships should clear their orders upon entering a system containing an enemy presence" or ".... containing any other empire" switched on? If so, could this be the problem?

Good idea Henk but I don’t think there would be enemies in every system. Longstreet can you attach the save here and let us take a closer look. Please include the name of the empire in question.

The movement points a visable. I will have to get back to my friend on the empire\orders tab for ship orders. Some of these ships have just been constructed and will not move from the planet.

Now if you had said they were just constructed and would only move one hex at a time I would say he doesn’t have enough supplies for the new construction. That could happen if he only one or two supply depots and is trying to resupply a large number of ships. Something else is going on with his ships; I doubt this is a bug. The save game would really help out.

What ever the problem was we have decided for a new game. Neither of us had a good start anyway.Thanks all for your advice.

Dodgy keyboard with "escape" key (or whatever "clear orders" is in SE5) stuck down?
