View Full Version : Ignoring treaties combat bug

Q

Situation: Empire A has non aggression treaties in all systems with empire B, C and D. Empire B and C have too a non aggression treaty in all systems with each other, but are at war with empire D.
Ships of empire A, B and C are together in a warp point sector and everything is fine until a ship of empire D warps in.
What happens?
What should happen: ships of empire B and C attack together ship of empire D, while ship of empire A does nothing and is not attacked either.
What really happens: Every empire shoots at every other empire ignoring completely all treaties!

Quite a severe bug IMO.

I got that. I had a nonagression treaty with the Norak. I sat on a wp with the Norak. A Jraenar ship came though. The Norak and Jraenar start next to each other with me off on the frings. The 2 aliens coast past each other with a cursory shot each. Then the Norak head outwards until they meet and start firing at me.

workaround: avoid combat.

well I was on the way in to attack the Jraenar when I started to wonder why the Norak were heading towards me. When they started firing I turned around.

How could you do that in strategic combat or in simultaneous games?? Even in tactical combat you might not be able to escape combat, if the initial position is close to the other ships.

In a multiplayer human game I would like to see the reaction of two allied human empires, who have each large fleets together in the sector and then an enemy warps in and the massacre begins.

I think Yimboli's comment was intended as a sarcastic remark. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

You could always order your ship to self destruct before anyone can shoot at you!!! Hey, at least you'd still be neutral!!! So what if it was your first dreadnaught and took 4 years to build!!! /threads/images/Graemlins/Peace.gif /threads/images/Graemlins/icon49.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
