View Full Version : Do cloaks work?

I've tried putting class 2 cloaks on small explorer ships also equipped with quantum reactors (but no stealth armor), then sending them out to scout enemy territory. Even though the enemy lacks scanners they find these ships like they had beacons attached to them and shoot them down. Can someone give me some tips on how to use cloaking devices and stealth armor effectively?

Someone mentioned on another thread the idea that destroying the leader of an enemy fleet paralyses the remaining ships. I've found that if the enemy fleet is large enough this isn't true, but once I wgittle the fleet down to the Last one or two ships, they stop moving sometimes.

Are you clicking on the 'cloak' button in the upper left screen? Cloak works very well when I use it.

Good grief! I didn't realize that the cloak had to be turned on. Can it be turned on indefinately?

Yes, it can be left on indefinately, though you will need to turn it off to do some things. Even stealth armor needs to be "turned on".

Also, the "shooting the formation leader" thing is apparently a random thing, some sort of bug - I've destroyed many leaders without seeing a freeze.

Cloaking works only if you have supplies remaining.
Check the component stats to see how many supplies each cloaking device uses up per turn (when active).
