I downloaded your Federation shipset and have begun to make some changes to it. I've collected some really good overhead pictures for many of the Federation ships including:
Nova Class (Escort)
Sabre Class (Frigate)
Steamrunner Class (Destroyer)
Intrepid Class (Destroyer 2)
Excelsior Class (Light Cruiser)
New Orleans Class (Light Cruiser 2)
Nebula Class (Cruiser)
Ambassador Class (Cruiser)
Akira Class (Battlecruiser)
Prometheus Class (Battlecruiser 2)
Galaxy Class (Battleship)
Sovreign Class (Dreadnought)
I hate the Miranda Class (but I guess I could add it...)
I've also collected some different oblique shots for some of these ships as well (for the portraits).
Here's an idea for the units like troops and weapon platforms. There's a game called Star Trek: New Worlds - it's some Trek game that features these kinds of units. Maybe you could get a hold of them and use them in the set, since they'll go well with the set...
Good Luck

Let's not forget the Defiant Class (Attack Cruiser)...
I've scaled most of the overhead mini pics, so that there's more of a difference between the escort and dreadnought...

http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon8.gif Stop that! Every time I burn a CD with all my misc. files you put out another update of these shipsets! When will they be done? http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/confused.gif
Oh well, when the next update comes around I'll download the latest set at that time. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif
Maybe we've got enough material to put out a CD of supplemental ship sets and mods? Of course, put these sets on a retail CD and we'd probably be open for all sorts of 'intellectual property' problems. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon9.gif sigh...

I don't plan on releasing any more updates for these sets.

Who are the Illuminati anyway? They have a strange resemblance to the Breen, a mysterious Star Trek race featured in the Last years of Deep Space Nine, who were rumored to prefer very cold planets.

The Illuminati is a race that I based upon a race of humans that attempted to take over the universe in a book by Harry Harrison, The Stainless Steel Rat Gets Drafted.
The Breen were developed also from this same book. Since I could not find enough Breen looking ships, (A thing that I regret) I opted to make the Illuminati.
The name Illuminati (as well as the race portrait) came from the game Deus Ex.
Hope that answers your question.

Hey Atrocities nice job! Just wondering do you want to create a Species 8472 and Vulcan sets? Some of the stuff is already done on Warp's Nine site (ships/ai for the demo). Well, anyways, thanks for the hard work.

There's also a very strange set of books called "The Illuminatus Trilogy" by Robert Anton Wilson.
I think the Illuminati is sort of a super "secret society" that makes the Masons and Shriners look like college fraternities...

I also beleive that they are using the Illuminati name in the new Tomb Raider movie too.

hey Atrocities, let me get this straight. Are you saying that the Breen and this Illi... (doh! forgot how to spell it) are created by the same author? Sorry, just don't know much about what you are talking about.

No, I am not saying that Magnum. Say, did you ever get that virus killed? What I am saying is that the BREEN are a direct rip off of Harry Harrisons book. I on the other hand, just decided to use them as a basis for a race that I was making. (Originally going to be the Breen, but... could not find enough Breen ships to use.) So I made them a non trek race.

It's a jump back in the topic, but you can find many star trek ships (3Dmax in modified format - viewer/converters available) at the following sites, they also have the readme/copyright clause from ADM, which I believe also includes paramount.
