View Full Version : A Problem I Often Encounter When Colonizing

My colonies will show zero population and so never build anything or contribute anything, while the whole planet is open to my expansion instead of just the little piece that (according to my native habit setting) ought to be available to me.
What's going on? Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? I have no treaties with other civilizations and my colony ships definitely have the right colony type built on them.

Do you actually load them with population before taking off? O_O

Happened to me too... I think the problem is that there is too few population on the planet at which you produce the colony ship, so there aren't enough people to move with the new colony ship...

Sounds like you are using the "Move To" then the "Colonize" command which means you aren't loading any population first. If that isn't what you are doing than zip and attach a save game here and one of us can look at it for you.

Yeah sounds like someone is making the classic mistake of not putting people on his colony ship. Everyone does it.

Man you can say that again, and again!

In the SE Series there are only two kinds of *liars. The first says they have never forgot to load colonists and the second swears they gave their troop transport the capture planet order. *BOOM* MY TROOPS!!!

*Edited: Oh that was a hoot, I crossed the 'i' and 'a' so instead of liars I had lairs. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif

Well I really think I used the colonize function, and it was from my home planet... I'll be more careful in the future though and see if it doesn't happen again, and if it happens again I'll post a save. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Thanks for your help.
