View Full Version : What is possible while Cloaked?

If a ship is cloaked, what abilities can it use/not use?
Sweeping, Unit launching, Stellar Manip, Remote mining, construction, etc?
Does it use Supplies only when engaged/disengaged, or is it a constant per turn usage?

AFAIK, its the same as SEIV: constant per-turn usage and you can't do much of anything except move around.

My first game I fitted out a drone with a cloaking device and the ability to generate supplies. I had cloaked drones moving through enemy space watching everything they did.

I'm pretty sure you can:

- do cargo orders like load/unload/transfer and launch/recover; great for mine or sat layers.

- repair, but not construct.

... it worries me when you ask questions like this.
I guess I better make sure I've got a level or two of sensor tech and some ships floating around with it.

How many resource points do you need to spend, before you can get Warp Openers on medium tech?

I don't play Balance but I doubt Kwok is too far off Stock. And in Stock you need "Stellar Manipulation" level 35 just to open the warp points. From there you get the "Gravitational Quantum Resonator" which itself tops out after 30 levels. Or put another way "Stellar Manipulation" level 35 is the low point, level 50 mid-way, and 65 the top end.

I recall someone mentioning in regard to the Balance Mod (and I presume Stock is similar http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif ) that the earliest level of the warp point opener is sufficient to span the majority of most generated maps.

Stellar Manipulation requires Level 3 Astrophysics.

You will get the warp point opener at level 10 Stellar Manipulation, increasing in strength up to level 16, which is the max level for the warp point opener.

I can confirm that, at least in Balance Mod, if your ship has a Quantum Reactor for supply, it WILL NOT resupply while your cloak is on. Not a point until you end/start the turn de-cloaked.
