Ok so I want to clear this up for my own good. As far as I know there are quite a few mods, ship sets, flags sets, for SEV out there right now.
So my question is what files have to be where to make sure I can use them for a multiplayer game? More specificly PBW.
If I DL a ship set do I have to have it or everyone in the game? If I have a different flag?
What folder does what go into?
I see lots of cool things out there I just want to be able to use them all without having to worry about each player's compatibility.

The \gametypes folder is where all the mod stuff goes.
You should see a stock folder in there already... the mods will look just like that, except with more files and sub-sub folders.
Unfortunately, at the moment, everybody in the game needs to have the shipset, or at the very least, the host who will be processing turns needs them.
Hopefully this will get fixed.
Shipsets can be placed in the stock empires folder, as long as they're not overwriting anything.
The downloads will often come with ship name lists as well; such name files can be placed in Data\DesignNames

Alright so as long as I'm playing on PBW I have to make sure EVERY player has a shipset if I want it to work.
Thanks.
I'm hoping that get's fixed at some point. I don't think it would require that much would it? Maybe an adjustment to a player's turn file or something.

Well, at the moment, the game forces a random flag and shipset onto the player...
What needs to be done to truly fix the problems is to make the server able to process without needing any shipsets, much like SE4.

if annother player does not have your shipset it's not such a big problem, if the HOST (pbw in this case) does not have your shipset then you will get randomly reasigned a shipset that PBW DOES have - which could be the same as somone elses.
