Hi folks,

I need a clarification: If you are using a webserver to host a game, where players upload turn files (.plr) and download game files (.gam), then you are FORCED to use NO TACTICAL combat AND Simulataneous turn handling, correct?

Also, when hosting a game in this fasion, through webserver and using AUTOHOST for SE4 to run new turns when all the .plr files are in, you SHOULD use the connection type TCP/IP Host, correct?

Sorry to be a bother, but our current webserver has a VERY painful glitch when it bites you and I think the new webserver I've found works much better and I'm just trying to create a test game to test that new webserver.

Thanks again for your time!

Regards,

Rob aka dethgod74

Correct about Simultaneous Movement, but there's no need to set No Tactical Combat - that setting is ignored in simul and treated as on no matter what.

The connection type should be Manual File Moving.

Also, there's no need to set up your own webserver, Play By Web (http://seiv.pbw.cc/) is already set up to host such games very well and is free.

For reference, there is a SE4-specific subforum.

You don't have to go and explicitly check "no tactical".
That setting only makes a difference in sequential games

TCP/IP is a different mode from what PBW uses. TCP/IP mode has players all connect to the server at the same time.
