Come on, you Wombat Protectorate members! President Elect Shang is conspiring to coup an existing alliance. If you guys can conquer quadrants of the galaxy surely you can overtake the moon! This game actually looks like it might be easier to do than Cyber Nations, and since it's just starting out it's a good time to get in on the ground floor.

I would, except it seems that the site doesn't like my email address.

--edit: Nevermind, just took the server 20 minutes to send the email. Sheesh...

Right we need as much support as we can get in The Paladines (notice there as an extra e in the spelling) so we can build our power base before the CN power blocks come over and make a new CN of their own.

My people have founded Welteislehre, under the leadership of Houston Peenemunde. However they had to make a crash landing. Is there anyway to see a map of where I am?

The game is to new to make a map but I think he has it in the plans for later.

President Elect Shang, did you join the forum for The Paladines?

And besides that it seems to be like Cybernations, location isn't really important.

You're on the freakin' moon. How important can location be?

I sure did I just haven't had a chance to drop by the Forum today yet. I will later tonight once the home front and CN settle down.

There was a total of 1 message there yesterday. You're right: the alliance needs new leadership.

Try prefixing www. and appending .net to the game name. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Well, the glorious colony of Agentia (originality FTW!) is off to a slow start. So a question: What exactly should I be doing? Right now I'm buying up AIs so I can build more mines. Is this a good direction to head in to start raking in the cash? Or should I be building housing to support more taxpayers?

JeffGeorge
March 5th, 2007, 11:56 AM
I think Housing is the best way to start.

Will
March 5th, 2007, 12:55 PM
A mix of both, really. The prices of both AI and housing go up with the number that you already have. And if you just keep buying housing, eventually you will reach the point where you don't get any profit off of taxes because your life support costs are so high.

Baron Munchausen

Mines give a better 'net profit' ratio on a day-to-day basis, but they can only be bought as you accumulate AI so they are much more expensive to acquire. A mix of housing and mines is probably better than going for only mines.

Ok, I'm going mainly for housing at the moment, and investing whatever I have left over in AI. Any rough ideas on when I should switch my priorities around?

This is a new game that may be modified at any moment so it's hard to say what is 'best' yet. Just look at the prices of things. Housing gets more expensive as you buy more (as does AI, but AI has other benefits than increasing tax revenue). Mines seem to be stable in price, except that you need more AI to buy each new mine, so there is a 'surcharge' of sorts. The various 'improvements' probably aren't worth the investment until you have 100 housing or more.

I disagree here. Most of them are not worth it, but there are some that provide a very nice boost. The first improvement I bought was the Lunar Mall. You get an extra $100 per tax collection for a one-time cost of $1200; mine has already payed for itself. I also got the Wilderness Park and House of Worship. Together, they cause a 40% increase in population, which means a 40% increase in tax revenue (minus some for increase life support costs). I'm fairly sure these have also paid for themselves. I also grabbed a National Guard, mainly because it was cheap. It won't be paying for itself anytime soon, but it's still a nice bonus.

The rest of the improvements I'm holding out on until I get higher AI/Housing.

Can anyone provide a linky for the Paladines forum? I had a cursory poke around but didn't find anything.

Today I found out one of my school children made a breakthrough with their science project. All I got was 1 AI http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Well.... That's not too bad for a bunch of school children. I know I'd be pretty impressed if a bunch of kids came up with a functional AI.

Heres a tip, if you take out two loans and buy the mall, you get 500 free cash. The increased expenses from the loans balances out the increased income from the lunar mall perfectly.

Someone named 'Empire of Arcadia' has just joined The Paladines, and he's in the midst of an aggressive war against two members of the BORG alliance. Who is this guy? Does someone in The Paladines know him? Or is he just trying to use us as cover?

Will
March 22nd, 2007, 01:23 AM
Well, that's not the only colony attacking it seems. And I don't know if either of them just joined for cover or if they were already in... the alliance has been at 19 for the past few days, and that's what it's at now.

I'm not so sure I'm going to be staying in The Paladines. It doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and I've been either #1 or #2 for a long time now, and nobody else seems to be catching up. Not sure where I would go... maybe I'll try to figure out who the recruiters of some of the other alliances are and have them try to convince me which to join privately (so I don't need to go about advertising on the LW forums openly).

Oh, so we've got the same rogue behavior as on Cyber Nations? I thought we at least had a 'charter' with some rules, including non-aggression.

Maybe I should break-away and form a 'Team Spiff' alliance for myself... ?

Has anyone noticed LW seems to have some wonky timekeeping going on? I usually do my 'turn' once a day around 10pm and sometimes it says 3 days have passed, usually it says 4 days have passed, on occassion it says 5 days have passed, but today it said 12 days have passed! What's that all about?

Randallw
March 23rd, 2007, 02:45 AM
No sometimes about it. I do CN and LC at the same time every day and LC always says it's been 4 days. When it doesn't it says 6 days. I just assumed the finance system was messed up and as a result they give everyone the bonus so they can get enough money otherwise the costs outweigh the grants.

AgentZero
March 23rd, 2007, 03:26 AM
Funny, CN just did the same thing to me, saying it had been 3 days since my last tax collection, when I know I did it last night. Or did I? Maybe I forgot. That would explain a lot XD

A 'day' on Lunar Wars is six hours http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

It updates at 1:45 and 7:45 PDT (am and pm).

Baron Munchausen
March 23rd, 2007, 07:16 PM
It updates every six hours after your first tax collection rather than globally like CN. This is a much better way to do it. You don't have everyone trying to login at update time and collect taxes at once, then spend their revenue on upgrades or war materials. The need to 'get there first' at update time distorts the way CN works.
