Related to the original post: Is there anywhere I can start learning about how to mod SEV? There seems to be a bit on the Wiki, but not much on the introduction.

Some of the information in SEIV Modding 101 (http://se4modding.spaceempires.net) is still relevant, though it won't help you with the formula fields.

Modding Tutorials (SEV) (http://wiki.spaceempires.net/index.php/Modding_Tutorials_%28SEV%29) article has some data on the main files in it.
