I've been reading Posts that refer to no-maintenance empires. How do you gain this and still make your race playable? Maintenance seems to cost so much... am I missing some special racial trait??

Just curious.

Thanx.

You do have to make sacrifices, just decide how much it is worth to you!

You could probably get away with reducing your resource aptitude a bit to get the points, since you won't be paying maintenance after all.

BTW, this is going to be changed in next patch - there will be a minimum maintenance of 5% per turn. I think that's good, since no maintenance was a bit unbalancing in multiplayer games (you could stockpile really huge fleets and conduct long campaigns...)
