View Full Version : SE4 vs. SE5

Since the release of SE5 it has been a major pain in the *** to tell SE5 posts from SE4 posts. Now that SE5 is released I think that these forums would benefit if the two games were separated into separate forums. Of course since Shrapnel is no longer involved with the games this will likely not happen. Frankly I am surprised that this forum is still here.

..they are, technically. Its just that not everyone uses the SEIV subforum.

This place is slowly dying off as the official site picks up members. It is simply the way of things.

*sigh* I hope this place doesn't die. The official site still sucks. Granted, it is getting better, but it will take many years at the current pace to come close to this forum.

The official site still sucks.
Is it a bout the website itself or the community? Because I find it a lot more pleasant to use than this forum. I especially like the Recent Comments and Popular Content fields, no advertising present, and the whole colors/font sizes design.
Of course the newbie onslaught is very strong there... It's funny BTW how I was myself an newbie a few weeks ago.

I still prefer much more this forum than the official one:
I find the dark background with white letters quite tiring.
I miss the automatically jump to the posts I did not yet read in a topic, that this forum gives me.
I generally find the statements less reliable than on this forum.

se5.com though does have more active efforts going on in modding, bug reporting, and most of the topics are se5 related. I usually just use the recent posts view and click on the new items to navigate right to unread posts.

I prefer this site above all else. However the SEV site has been growing on me as well. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Tastes vary wildly. The only point I've quoted that I agree with you on is the advertizing, and I don't consider that intrusive here, either.
For me, the site is the problem. I consider it the worst BBS package I've ever put up with using. I'll probably end up spending more time there if this deal for a new computer ever goes through, so I can actually run SE V, but I can't imagine ever enjoying using that interface.

the SE.net forums are the best in this game as far as i am concerned. I wish they were a little more active tho.
