Thousands years later, archeologists will find a strange marble tablet and will wonder about its meaning...

Yomi want at least to honor the spirit of the great ermorian wyrm. The demons remember how well it raided our provinces in our first fight and what a pain it was to chase... Later we discovered that even wyrm could wear helmet in order to ride motorbikes, oops , in order to rout even the bravest demons...

One of our greatest warrior found a strange amulet on the body while he was eating the reptilian flesh. He does not know its purpose but think it may give him some strength of the dead beast...

Cool tablet, the spirit of my mighty Wyrm feels pleased!
OK, I'm done, finished by pretty much everybody and their mother. It was a pattern - neighbours would start attacking me, some would realise at some point that I was about to fall and my neighbours to rise and ceased hostilities. Rinse and repeat. Crappy starting position didn't help
Anyway, good game everybody! Happy dealing with Niefels.

Anyway, I think everyone was impressed by your early expansion ! It was one the best I saw ! The drawback is everyone (me included) was jealous and started to worry about it.

This game is really fun :
- make a wonderful early expansion and you may be hated.
- make a poor early expansion and you may be eaten.

Be warned peoples of this world. Many months ago Tien Chi wished to forge a NAP with the nation of R'lyeh. Our people suggested a three month NAP with Tien Chi. This NAP was not adequate for the army of Tien Chi, they wanted a NAP with a six month warning.

We reluctantly agreed to the six month NAP requested by Tien Chi. Yesterday we receive a message from Tien Chi telling us the NAP is over and we can begin aggressive actions in six months. A mere one month later, Tien Chi has begun attacks upon our people.

We ask anyone who is willing, to join in the wholesale slaughter of these people who have no honor. The people of Tien Chi shall become our slaves, feeding on their own filth as they fuel our war machine. Die well scum.

jutetrea
May 25th, 2007, 02:16 PM
Eh Wot?

The people of Tien Chi have ever been honest and forthright.

Yes we desired a 6 month notification of hostilities as the proximity of our nations would make a 3 month notification relatively useless.

Our messengers must have been misunderstood, the dissolution of the 6 month NAP was due to our perception that our options were limited in respect to the turmoil facing the rest of the world. We have offered to re-negotiate at the end of that 6 month time frame if the case so warrants. There were no declarations of war, no attacks planned or ordered, and above all no knives.

Attacks! What attacks? Tien Chi has never broken their word and hopefully never will. Our troops have not even moved towards your territory. As I'm sure you have spies available to you, you will notice no troop movements towards adjacent provinces - I have even moved groups of troops AWAY from our borders.

Tien Chi does admit to a bit of spell casting in your direction, namely 6 astral windows to seek knowledge about your empire. We noticed Ry'leh flags popping up in random places and sought further knowledge as to your expansion. We have noticed you expanding to the far west, the far south, and significantly in the former domain of Ermor. Would you begrudge us seeking to better ourselves with knowledge? On top of that, we fail to see how this calls for breaking a pact and being called oathbreaker?

Nations of the world, ask yourselves this - in all of your dealings with the territory of Tien Chi, have you had reason to question our word? If anything, we could be accused of being too forthright with the amount of information we share.

In closing, any breaking of our Non Aggression Pact until turn 59 will be met with great vengeance and furious anger.

edit: The overcast of Well of Misery was far from an act of war, it was an effort by many to share the wealth of such a useful spell. We were just deemed the most available to do so. Benefits from the well are to be had by all in the form of tax breaks and it is still not too late to be involved with the monthly dispersement of gems. Please enquire at the Magicka resource allocation department and fill out forms 2843a, 48578b, and be sure to sign forms 2945L and F.

All the other nation leaders have to do is look at the graphs to understand what is going on. You say someone else casted the province targetted spells? Then it was at your request for we are at peace with all nations currently. Let's see if they come out to hold hands with your nation, or hide in fear as you people are devoured, their blood is used to fertilize our new lands.

You dug your grave, prepare to inhabit it.

jutetrea
May 25th, 2007, 03:29 PM
We had no part in whatever caused your income to drop so drastically, we believed you were more upset over the loss of the well. If map spells were cast, as we mentioned via PM, we'd have no part in it. I'm a firm believer in not wasting gems for temporary affects. For the most part anyway, flames from the sky/murdering winter are useful in and of themselves if extremely flush with gems.

It is unfortunate that you feel so strongly about this, as I'm sure its just a case of bad luck or mistaken identity. As I said, I have no plans to break our pact. As of turn 59 we can re-negotiate if needed or if you still feel this way and continue with the unfounded complaints we may meet on the field of battle.

We didn't mindhunt you during our truce. I take NAPs very seriously and abide by them.

Appearantly, for the rest of you, a NAP means that you are allowed to cast offensive spells at enemies and they are not allowed to fight back. Do you really believe that a NAP means that you are only forbidden to take provinces from the person you have a truce with?

BTW it's cool to remember me the forum rules, but it could be even cooler to answer my question !
Can you explain me why your attack on Yomi is justified by Tien'chi's actions ???

That sounds just odd and seems like a vain attempt to turn me against Tien'chi. You're blaming Tien'chi about treachery but you're the one who casted two mind hunts on my commanders during our NAP.

So who is the traitor and the one who should be hunted down by all the unlucky nations ?

We have recently received PM's indicating that Ry'leh seeks to implicate us in trying to pass blame onto other nations. We have never done so beyond a simple "We have no idea". Blaming Yomi for actions related to your recent troubles are one thing, saying that we named them as the culprits is another. Nothing further from the truth. But lets be honest, I think it was:

Yomi
Tien Chi
Mictlan
Abysia
Niefelheim
Kailasa
C'tis
Ry'leh

(in the library with the candlestick!)

Now everyone can be upset that I have named names and started playing the blame game!

Nations of the world, the only recent PMs associated with Ry'leh's recent problems was a short refute that Tien Chi had nothing to do with it (and we don't like to spend gems that way). Everything else has been on this board.

War you wanted, and War you shall have.

As of this turn, 4 turns before the agreed upon NAP was dissolved - Ry'leh viciously attacked our unsuspecting citizens. Thousands were displaced, dead littered the fields of our peaceful villages. Tear faced Children looking for parents, Stoic parents looking for children - a tragic scene.

4 Provinces lost while at peacetime defense levels - 1 luckily defensed.

While our advisors plead caution, we cannot allow such insults to be forgotten.

Nations of the world, we formally declare war upon the alien spawn from the deeps and their undead immortal pretender. Beware the teleporting mindlords and their ability to land in far flung places. We shall do our best to erase this unearthly scourge for good.

I gotta set myself to AI this game. School starts back tomorrow and I am in eight games, so I am finding it hard to do my turns for this one and two others because of map size mainly. In this one I am fighting on so many fronts that I cringe when I look at my turn because of the amount of time it will take to do my turns properly.

Good job getting together an alliance consisting of most the server when Tien Chi has almost every unique artifact and Tartarians galore. That must have been some fast talking to convince them I was the real threat. Well played, you deserve the victory you almost certainly have earned through diplomacy unless Mictlan gets their head out of their rear and realizes what is up. Even then I think Tien Chi is going to run away with this one because Mictlan will be fighting multiple allied nations too that have no chance of winning and are praying to be the last eliminated by Tien Chi for whatever reason I don't know.

Was fun, the massive alliance being the only thing that soured it for me seeing how I was a middle of the road nation at the time behind atleast 3 others in power.

jutetrea
May 29th, 2007, 01:32 PM
That sucks man. Ry'leh scares me to be honest. More so than the Giants or a blood gorged Mictlan. Starting location, hanging out on my back door and scales just made me think of potential threat, not necessarily current threat.

I for no reason think I'm an obvious winner by any means, but I will admit that right from the get-go I started currying favors because I thought (still) that you'd be a late game threat.

In truth, there was no "whole server" alliance against you, but there were multiple actions with server wide assistance/acknowledgment/donations - dispels/rewrites. There was also quite a bit of explaining exactly what I was doing, which gave plenty of fodder for further activity "i'm attacking here, here and here... look, I'm NOT attacking here, and here" "or I plan on dispelling xxx, I have xxx gems and going for a xxx cast, if anyone wants to donate let me know"

Saint_Dude says you're a good player, so unfortunately that just fueled my paranoia.

Sucks to see you go, see you in perpetuality.

I don't think it was the whole server. Just all the nations that hit me with offensive spells then canceled their NAPs with me. That doesn't include Ctis and Niefelheim.

Yomi felt that I was Mindhunting his commanders during our NAP, so I understand his position, even though his current enemy had great access to astral mages.

Kailasa is just trying to be one of the last to lose, because this is his first MP game.

Mictlan is playing way too conservative and should have been at war with you already. Every turn that he remains at peace with your nation shifts the balance in your favor due to his bless becoming less important.

I always learn from these games and this time just like in "The Middle Way", I made too many friends. I expected those friends would be handy against the stronger opponents later on, I did not expect them to use our NAPs to attack me with impunity.

In one of my first large games I was in an alliance similar to yours and we ended up winning the game and declaring a joint victory. Looking back on that game I realized how boring it was to crush the opposition with the alliance, but I feel like I did it because I was new to the game and was afraid of what the veterans might unleash. So I can't fault you guys for doing the same thing I have done in the past.

I am getting better with R'lyeh. I just need to focus more on a concerted plan towards the end of the game.

Thanks for the great game and I look forward to playing with you guys again in the future. (Maybe on a smaller map because of time limits)

You really can't afford to buy an offbrand Thetis. Sure it saves you money up front, but they have a tendency to wear out faster than a namebrand Thetis, often at the worst possible moment. Now the seas wreak of sailors who did not think to bring ships.

AFAIK the magic bonus site reduces base gem cost, but additional gems are only counted after you exceed the base gem cost, which should be a bug. So, you wasted the gems.

Well, not really wasted. If the base cost is 50, and I had put in 75 gems at a normal 100% cost site, I'm at +25.

If the base cost is 50 and I put in 75 gems at a 50% cost site (even though a minimum cast is 25), I'm still at +25.

The only way I'd save money would be to cast at the minimum and then recast when it's dispelled. Which isn't a good plan with Thetis http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif. But since I know I'm prone to mistakes, all my main guys had Goblets as a precaution, and I lost mostly chaff. Yay, less chaff! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

CTis and Aby: we believe we may indeed have some jaguar warriors lazing about somewhere. We will try to try to round them up in time for Fall. Is it agreed that when the leaf reads 'Fall in year 6', orders may be given to commence hostilities?

Be warned that if so much as a toad jumps a wee bit higher than usual, or the spark from a bonfire falls a wee bit more forcefully to the ground, or a Mictlan priest gets the sniffles, we will ignore any waiting period in the NAPs and begin forward defensive manoeuvers immediately.

Rejoice! Master Kardash has ascended!

Or at least this is the future that our prophet assures us will be.

All the insignificant nations of the world scramble to find something to do rather than step up to the one true threat. They hide their heads in the sand while T'ien Ch'i grows stronger and stronger month by month. Already they have amassed more power than any one nation can counter. Soon they will have absorbed the ancient R'lyeh empire (along with their vast accumulated wealth) and turn their sights on to new prey. The procrastinators of the world can hope (and will likely get their wish) that T'ien Ch'i will turn next to the Giants. However, this is merely a delay of the inevitable. While all the fleas engage in meaningless tit for tat, T'ien Ch'i is acquiring true power.

Come and get us great God. Leave all of your borders undefended, bring everything you have. No one dares to lift a finger to stop you - save us.

jutetrea

Saint_Dude

Sure, why not. Although it is more like a declaration of suicide. We would rather die now in honorable battle (even if such a battle will involve about 20% of our force vs. 90% or yours) than to stick our heads in the sand and wait for the arrival of the juggernaut.

All hail Kardash, master of politics.

We had a scout uniquely positioned within viewing distance of your last major combat with Yomi. Very impressive, and very scary. Fun battle to watch. I'm confused about the reference to 90% of my troops, Ry'lehs AI forces were surprisingly/unsurprisingly very annoying so I'm left with 1 army anywhere near your lands. And they're still busy.

Should be interesting, the giants are formidable. We accept your challenge and shall strive to live up to your expectations. (Don't believe the Hype!)

Jaguars of Mictlan,

It is now late summer, so I assume next turn will be early fall, followed by fall, then late fall?

So we order the attacks on fall, they arrive on late fall?

vfb
June 6th, 2007, 08:25 AM
Yes, order the attacks in Fall. Or defensive manoeuvers or whatever you are calling them.

You will see the results in the 'Late Fall' round. But actually I think of those results as occurring in Fall, after you have given your orders and pressed 'Submit Turn'. You just don't get to see what happened until 'Late Fall'.

By the way sorry I haven't managed to find time to do this turn yet.

After viewing a few members of T'ien Ch'i's Tartarian horde, I am thinking that the term SC hardly does justice to one in particular. There should be a term for a Super SC that can not only single handedly take out armies, but that can also take out armies of other SCs (and is highly resistant to normal anti-SC tactics).

This month the Giants held a grand festival to celebrate the destruction of the demon scourge of the Unlucky east. While we are no means a nation of dainty scholars with delicate sensitivities, we were shocked to find the last of the demons hunkered down in their capital worshiping (drinking from?) a giant pool of bubbling blood. eww

As part of the of festivities, a parade was held to honor the contributions of great hag Angerboda, who played an essential role in pacifying the demons, and who recently slew the Tartarian demigod invading our home land. If only it were the only one.

Turns out that the 1 army that was mentioned was well over 90% of T'ien Ch'i's force. There are now about 800 politicians aggregated around our capital preparing for a siege. We would be very surprised if there is another warrior to be found anywhere else in T'ien Ch'i's vast empire. All their borders are surely undefended as is their capital. Yet the Ostriches of the unlucky world stick their head in the sand and hope the threat will just evaporate.

The jolly blue giants seem to be lovers of the tall tale, as are we all. Giant Tale? hmm.

Anyway, there must be some misunderstanding. Our "peace-keeping" force just got misled, we took a wrong turn at Albuquerque and are looking for our way. Luckily re-enforcements arrived before we were mistaken for brigands. Unlike the UN, we will try to "keep the peace" very enthusiastically. No harshly worded letters, oh no. Once we find those those litterers we'll give them a hiding they won't soon forget.

Last we looked the west was doing just fine in keeping things tidy. Even now they have their own forces enthusiastically keeping the peace. Although no litter was seen, or outpost will keep a sharp eye out.

In terms of troop strength, I think your scouts have been swilling a bit of mead. Our keepers are starting to get nervous as we can easily see over 300+ troops surrounding their location. Icky undead, smelly shifters, formidable giants, and a big stone - that talks! WTF!

Luckily, there must have been some mistake - we left the bureaucrats home this time.

All this talk of ostriches is very amusing to the inhabitants of the Mictlan jungle, and we are sure that it is even more hilarious to CTis, who are right now very busy cleaning up the ginormous puddles of demon blood and piles of body parts left outside their castle walls.

Tien Chi is not the only inhabitant of these lands running around with Tartarians smashing everything in sight. The formidable lizards have their own supply of undead gods roving through the lands, backed up by wily wizards wielding deathly magics.

Woe is Mictlan! For we fell for Niefelheim's story that Tien Chi is the only mighty power remaining, and our council chose to make war on CTis, so that our own power might be increased by acquiring their lands. Meanwhile, in the North several devils are in the hospital for surgery following injurious battles against the Abysians. Greed will be our downfall!

It's a good thing us jungle folk have a fine appreciation of dark humor. Otherwise we'd all be crying instead of laughing.

The Giants are dumbfounded (and a bit depressed) that the prophet of T'ien Ch'i survived our attacks. In truth we only have ourselves to blame. We should have sent another vengeance his direction last month and finished him off proper.

Level 4 priests tear up the undead chaff with banishment. Still, he was down to 97 fatigue at the conclusion of the battle. Another 10 soulless and he would have been a goner. A second vengeance with 150 or so soulless would have killed him with ease.

Equally remarkable, that lucky dirt farmer also survived multiple plagues and an extremely cold winter (which killed off a large number of the regular troops) with only 4 h.p.. Not only did he survive, but somehow, he also avoided catching so much as a sniffle.

Bad omen indeed. Even worse than the forge of the ancients, and the dozen or so Tartarians along with their several hundred closest friends about to storm our capital.

BTW: Where does one acquire shadow seers? There are sure quite a few in the motley mob laying siege to our capital.

jutetrea
June 12th, 2007, 06:00 PM
Shadow Seers from a site, can't login atm so don't know which one. Pretty nifty and not too expensive.

Yes, very lucky... talk about a stressful battle, and yes the fatigue was noticed. I'm surprised the high fatigue didn't lead to 1 measly hit...would have been a crit and probably over the 4hp.

And yes, the plagues/winter were extremely painful. I would have been very disappointed if I got the "defenders are repairing faster"... its a lot of effort to get troops over there.

Our Hags made sure to finish of the T'ien Ch'i prophet last month, but alas, it was a month too late. The prophet had already distributed the key artifacts in his possession. We fear that the Sword of Aurgelmer and the Sword of Injustice will prove to be our undoing in the coming month.

Unfortunately, I don't think its that clear cut. Bob may be in danger, yet your empire is still going strong. With the income/gems you're pulling in I'm not thinking it'll be a pushover.

Traipsing across the sea with re-enforcements is quite annoying, so I'm really hoping my resident force can at least take the capital. My troops should be like 4 stars for the trials and tribulations they've had to endure to get there. The next turn should be very interesting.

I kill bob, kill the last 2 fleeing units and I win. Wrong.

I've lost 90% of my troops, 3 lousy commanders get away and Bob is still alive and kicking...or as much as a big rock CAN kick. Even if he was immortal, which he's not, he should still be dead or sieging the conquered castle.

I dunno, my opinion is that if you script this intentionally (cast & retreat, or just wield & retreat), it might fall under the "interestingly similar to an exploit" category. If the BE stops when you die, that means you need to be maintaining it, and if you flee to another province (or script returning) I don't think that should be possible. SP though -- fair game! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Micah
June 14th, 2007, 01:57 AM
How is it an exploit? Retreating is never mentioned in ANY documentation that I can remember (please provide a page number in the rulebook or a location in-game if you have one, I may be mistaken) as a cause of the enchant dropping. It's always stated "the enchantment lasts until the end of battle or until the caster is killed." Retreating is neither, and therefore the continued spell functionality is not a bug, and hence cannot be exploited.

Besides, if the caster is under 100 fatigue after the spell goes off the person casting it is out a caster for the battle if he retreats, and if he's dropped unconcious from casting it he's not doing much retreating for a while anyhow.

Saint_Dude
June 14th, 2007, 02:07 AM
The replay bug strikes again. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Pretty darn costly for both sides none the less. You lost more troops, but I very likely lost more gems and toys.

What I can't figure out is why your troops didn't scatter in absolute panic? There were over a half dozen battlefield enchantments up causing wide scale damage and moral hits. Many of your troops were down to moral 7 or less and taking damage constantly, yet none of them ever broke! What gives?

I am also really bummed that I let you secure a retreat avenue for your troops (not that many fled). I should have poured a couple hundred gold for PD in that province last turn to make such an event less likely.

Darn: attachment failed

jutetrea
June 14th, 2007, 02:17 AM
I don't know why I didn't rout either, in hindsight it would have been preferential. The ironic bit, if you'd had more commanders stick around you would have hit the jackpot in items.

Did you see the same replay I did? Routed troops do not show up as "dead" on the combat log, correct? From the replay I should have had control of the province, plus a bunch of commanders and troops. From the combat log I should have zilch but you should still have about 20+ commanders at your capital, instead of just solid bob.

Even if you lost more toys I think I got the short end, its tough to get an army over there. Even more important its tough to supply gems to the right folks or futz around with items.

No, it's not in the manual. It just seems kind of cheap to me. If you enter a battle wielding a Staff of Storms, Storm takes effect. If you die, the Storm stops. Why does that happen? As I said, it's just my opinion, but if the maintainer of the Storm has gone away, then I think it makes sense that the Storm would end.

I suppose we'll know for sure once the status of the item pertaining to this in the Bug Shortlist thread gets resolved (WAD or bug).

Saint_Dude

Argh!! So much death and destruction! (yet, curiously, only 34 corpses in our capital).

That battle, and the subsequent results make no sense at all. Very unsatisfying. I was very curious how all the battlefield spells would stack up, and how certain mages would perform. The way things turned out, I am left with little information - just a lot of dead mages and lost toys. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

And for all the difficulty T'ien Ch'i has in transporting troops across the sea, there is another huge force preparing for a siege already. Round 2 looks like it is going to start immediately. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Forget for a moment the shear gem cost, which is huge, T'ien Ch'i has demonstrated that it has a large number of high level mages in various paths (perhaps all the elemental royalty and some demi liches?).

All my nice little spell combos pretty much fizzled and not getting your god is gonna hurt this time.

Not to mention you have 2 other huge armies and another moderate force on the way. The plan was to take your sparsely populated capital, and then combine armies and sweep the heathens from north to south. I'm about 8 turns and about a billion gems behind plan...plus the matter of a few hundred quality troops. Damn discouraging.

Be that as it may, forge isn't doing us much good right now. If anyone wants some items forged, let me know. 1/2 off almost all items, i'll just take profit in the hammer reduction. We're pretty tapped on a few types of gems, so even buying them for cash.

From here on out I am just playing the part of spoiler. There is no way that Niefel will ever rise again. I still don't understand why everyone thinks Tien Chi has this all wrapped up with a pretty ribbon. Mictlan is leading in almost all of the score graphs, yet all I've heard now is, Tien Chi this and that. Personally, a strong blood nation this late game scares me a hell of a lot more than a nation with Tartarians.

Just saying. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Awwww crap if the Giants go AI that means that big army of theirs down south will start rampaging in C'tis lands adding to the big headache we are currently experiencing.

Well, you shouldn't have taken your provinces back then! If you'd been nice and let Mictlan conquer your lands, instead of sending your tartarian legions on a killing spree, then it would be Mictlan who'd have to worry about the Nief AI army. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I'm going to have to drop from this game. My internet service is spotty at best (I just got back online after 3 days without service) and I don't want to hold this game up any longer with unforseen delays. Can you get a sub for Kailasa? The position is decent for late game.

My apologies.
During the many starts/restarts of this game it appears that at one point I used the wrong script. It created and recorded a "new" master password, which does not work. I have no way of retrieving the original master password. So unless a player left their password blank or provides their password, there can be no subs

well that's difficult. I don't think bandarlover has disappeared completely, we may still be able to retrieve his pw.

OK Kailasa sent me his, and I have forwarded it to someone who showed an interest at filling in.

I still think T'ien Ch'i has the most formidable army in the Unlucky world.

However, by the looks of things they may be dominion killed in the very near future. I wouldn't have thought it possible on a map this big. But Mictlan's dominion is growing like crazy. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

Have you even seen Mict's army? Its pretty nasty.

And yeah, this whole dominion spread is pretty brutal. I've got options still.. C'tis is looking in trouble.

Somehow between me last checking my turn, uploading my turn and seeing the results.. all my manifestation throwers targeted my capital. Needless to say "no enemy targets found". Color me surprised.

Mictlan's dominion does not extend much past our borders, and all our neighbors have many Dom10 provinces full of temples. So we don't think we'll Dom kill anyone. It's just there's been a brief lull in the fighting so some of our priests spent a bit of time up controlling an infestation of virgins that popped up.

And our army stats are only scary because we're busy trying to drown a bunch of Militia who 'luckily' volunteered to serve up. But they are extremely lazy and are taking their sweet time marching down to the lake for a swim.

With TC holding all the artifacts and also having AN up, us jungle cats are truly in a weak position.

LoloMo
July 2nd, 2007, 08:01 AM
With everyone claiming weakness, C'tis will step up to the plate and declare ourselves the SOLE REMAINING SUPERPOWER!!!

So, will all of you weaklings bow down to the Council of Sauromancers, be true to your claims of weakness, and admit defeat?

Mwahahahahah!

vfb

Mictlan admits that CTis defeated us soundly in the Battle of the Fortress at Cedar Box, demonstrating for all that us jungle folk are meek and cowardly and not anything to worry about at all.

CTis is truly a power to be reckoned with.

Of course TC is weak, we lost repeatedly to a rock. A named rock no less. We were only able to win when the rock teleported (!) out.

Although I got a good snicker out of Lolomo's comment.

My apologies for taking so long on these turns. The micro involved just kills me, I don't ever feel like doing it. If people are cool with the glacial pace I'll stick, otherwise I'd like to get a sub or go AI.

LoloMo
July 12th, 2007, 07:41 AM
I don't mind the slow pace, as long as we do about 2 turns per week.

Gandalf Parker
July 12th, 2007, 12:10 PM
There is the standard compromise available also. If people wish to decide on a max setting then it can be added. It can be a week if people want. Or 72 hours. Or 48.

The game does seem to be going fine so I will leave it up to you but if you want to put a "this is reasonable but after that is ridiculous" setting then I will add it.

jutetrea
July 12th, 2007, 12:45 PM
I'd be good with 72 hours I think.. the lack of timer = lack of ambition. I think with a timer it would be a good kick to the pants again.

Anyone know what happened to kailasa?

Is this game still going?

The monkeys struck back against the Giants but it's a lost cause type of thing.

If its a dead game then let me know. I have very few slots for a mid or large games.

I try not to abuse the master password by peeking in on peoples player files. The only info I really have to go by is that stats file. The latest stats file tells me this....
T'ien Ch'i played this turn
Mictlan played this turn
C'tis played this turn
Niefelheim played this turn
Kailasa played this turn

so as far as I can "see" the game is still going on.

I'll be unable to continue playing after Aug 15th. It's kind of late in the game to be getting a sub, but setting Mictlan AI would not be very neighborly for Mictlan's neighbors. Any ideas?

lol, eek!

I'm up for whatever, we can either continue the snails pace with a very random mictlan, quit, get a sub who wants to play with high powered blood for awhile, or whatever.

I set the Giants to AI this turn. They had nothing to do anyway other than sit around and watch as their lands were slowly consumed by T'ien Ch'i. This game has moved much too slowly for that to be an interesting activity.

If the game were called now, it would have to be considered a tie between Mictlan and T'ien Ch'i.

LoloMo
August 9th, 2007, 02:23 AM
Yep I would just call it a tie between Mictlan and Tien Chi.

Mictlan and I actually had a pact to conquer the world that was set in motion several turns ago, so we were just doing a charade of hating each others guts hahaha http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

But without Vfb, that would not be as fun.

vfb
August 9th, 2007, 09:02 AM
Uh ... Mictlan was actually also secretly allied with TC.

The Mictlan nation was flip-flopping back and forth indecisively, trying to decide who to betray first. Hence our crushing of CTis's dominion (but backing off at the last minute out of guilt) and our backstabbing of TC with a surprise 999-slave AC (and the caster of which offing himself shortly thereafter in fit of despair).

So, we are not deserving of any recognition of victory or anything like that. TC should be declared the winner of Unlucky, in Mictlan's opinion, since TC and CTis would have soon figured out what Mictlan was up to, and ganged up on Mictlan together.

Sorry to have had to bow out before the action-packed finale!

LoloMo
August 9th, 2007, 10:54 AM
hahaha quite excellent move my friend =)

I quite suspected something like that, and I was prepared to give all my possessions to TC before I got dominion killed =)

Well, I happily concede to TC also. Congrats TC, well played!

Yeah, same here. Sad not to be able to set up a round of cataclysmic battles.

I'm just out-dominion'd right now, life keeps interfering.

If we can close the game it would be one less sub I'd need to get. I'll even withdraw from the "I win" race http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Now, I wish there was a way to set everyone to AI afte a game is called and monitor progress. Used to be able to do that with a lot of the Risk computer games, set everyone to computer and just watch things unfold quickly.

Anyway, fun and fantastic game. Kailasa was my early ally but wasn't terribly influential. C'tis was always a worthy neighbor, communicative and kept his word. Mictlan was my mid-late game ally and was great (except the AC!, although I was learning to live through it... respawning liches helped out).

I do feel slightly bad about turning everyone against Foodstamp, but at the time Ry'leh scared me the most and had a castle 2 steps from my capital. Once the gauntlet was thrown it was a fun battle.

And the giants, what a HUGE pain in the butt to knock them out of the castle. For a rock, BoB was excessively tough.

Saint_Dude

Too late to withdraw from the "I win" race. I believe that a consensus was already reached to call the game in your favor. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

No point in getting a sub.
