Anyone know how to get this one working? I have turned the Population Transport minister on in my empire options, and I turned the minister on in my particular ship (with cargo bays), and the ship sits there and does nothing turn after turn. What are the requrements to get this working?

Stupid question, but do you have the Population Transport minister turned on?

I should also say try turning on the new vehicles use minister option and see if that changes the result as well.

Oh, well that's an interesting thought. Never thought of that before.

Uner the Ship design do you have your Transport set/labeled under "Population transport?" If you bring it up to build does the category say Pop Transport or maybe Freighters or anything else. You may have a Cargo ship that can transport population, but if its not labeled as a Population transport in the ship classes the minister will NOT control it.
IE....the minister controls "Pop Trans" only.

-I have population transport turn on in empire options
-The ship has many cargo bays
-The ship has no current order
-The ship has movement point and supply
-The ship is of type "Pop. Transport" as per stock game.
Still no go. V1.33. Seriously, dudes. Seriously. Serious.

In stock, I think you might need to have select "New Ships Use Minister" or something like that in addition...

But then wouldn't all ships I create use the minister?

Setting the 'AI controls new ships' option would work for any new builds. For existing ships you will have to click on the ship itself and turn on the AI for that ship to get it working. You will see a little 'face' status icon when the AI has control of the ship, just as you do with planets.

I'm having the exact same problem too. Does anyone know if population ministers work in their games, maybe it's a bug that needs fixing?

I just figured it out. In the manual it says there should be a sub listing under the Empire Options/ Ministers Selection, call "Ministers being used" This option is not showing up in my game (patch 1.33 installed), but is where you would select exactly what minister(s) you want turned on.
Stupid bug, you're annoying me.

Thanks, but wouldn't I need wine too?
FYI, I tried re-installing my SEV (minus saved games folders) and minister control was back so I installed patch 1.33 & go figure it disappeared again. After another re-install I went to patch 1.25 then 1.33 and it still works! I'm statring to think my inital quess about the bug was right. Hope this helps.

Question to all: Has anyone ever seen the transport ministers working?

Only if you want to run SE on linux.

Yes, I have: SE V version 1.33, BM 1.05, Eee. They had population transport ships loaded with population and orders to move to a colony and drop there the population.
Perhaps the proplem is that the AI files are only read at the start of a new game as Kwok reported.

Q, what settings in the your empire options did you turn on to enable that?
It was a fully AI controled empire.
I never use single ministers in my own empire.
Therefore it might be that several ministers must be activated to make population transports work under AI control and as I mentioned there might be even a problem that the AI files are only read in the beginning of a game.

Has anyone yet been able to get the Pop Transport Minister to work?
