I am so sure that this was suggested before, but forgive me for bringing it up again...

In Simultaneous Play: What my friends and I would like to see is the ability to launch and recover a specific number of units- as opposed to the current "all or nothing" option.

After clicking Launch Units Remotely, a dialog box should prompt you: "how many?"

For example: if I have a satellite launcher that only wants to drop ONE satellite, (cloaked sat with sensors), I can launch only one, then move on with the rest of my sats in cargo without a return trip.

Has anyone come up with a workaround for this in the meantime?

It was discussed, and there is a crude workaround: It invloves juggling cargo between ships with diffrent cargo capacities - for example, you want to drop just one satellite but you have 5 in your cargo bay. All you need to do is have a second ship/ base which holds exactly 4 satellites. Transfer cargo to the 4 sat ship, and you will have just one satellite left in the first ship which you can now safely launch. All you need to do now is transfer the 4 unlaunched sats back.

Like I say, it's crude and it's hardly worth the effort, but it's all we got=-)

I'd like to see this one resolved with the implementation of better order stacking commands (wait X turns command, IF/THEN, WHILE, UNTIL statements etc) I remember seeing a game many many years ago which allowed you to program orders into drones using flow charts - it was extremely clever and worked well.

Thanks dogscoff, the lightbulb just went on!

Crude yes, but functional for now. I do hope this functionality eventually makes it into a patch as well.

dogscoff, you don't happen to remember which game that was? I'm always looking for good strategy games to play, new or old. And that sounds like a strategy game, so I'm interested.

Can't remember what it was called, but it must have been about 10 - 15 years ago on my Amiga 500. If you could get the game I don't even know if it would work on a later model Amiga (Although there are still 500s about). I got the game from a magazine coverdisk so the instructions were minimal (this is before the days of Online documentation). It had realistic gravity wells and everything. Never really played it coz it was just too damn complex for a 10 yr old=-)

I still have all those coverdisks at my parents' house - I'll take a look next time I visit them.
