OK, I've downloaded the Klingon, Romulan, Ferengi and TOS race files from New Age Shipyards. I've unzipped them into the appropriate created-by-me folders.

The Romulan and Klingon downloads contained '.emp' files that I moved into the game's 'Empires' folder. I *assume* that is all I needed to do in order to include those races in my games. I did successfully begin a test game with me playing the Klingons.

The Ferengi and TOS downloads, however, did not contain '.emp' files. So...how can I include these races in my games?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've been studying these Boards all morning for info on using the various cool-looking user-created races, and the process is still somewhat hazy to me...

Those are just pictures and maybe some AI then. You need to make your own .emp file.

How do you make an .emp file? What kind of file is it?

Easy enough. In the game setup, just hit new empire. Go through that process, and when you're done, select save to file. Make sure to select the correct portrait.

To make an EMP file, start a game with random races.

Then set all the AIs to player control
- open the menu, click "players"
- uncheck all the green dots
End your turn
As each AI's turn comes, go through the menu and "Save Empire"
This will create .EMPs which you can use to "add existing empire" during the game setup.
