What combat strategy settings do you have to use to get your ships to launch satellites during combat?

Somebody's gotta know. Is it simply not possible outside of tactical combat?

I dunno. I've never even tried that tactic in Tactical, let alone Strategic.

Someone posted the basic idea a bit back. Basically you fill transports or other early-game ships with satellite bays. I use Small Transports, with 3 Sat Bays and 6 Cargo Bays, just enough room for 12 satellites. If you use a mix of sats with 2 DUCs and sats with 1 CSM, you get a ship with more firepower than a light cruiser, and you can have one flying around in just a few turns. Also, since most early ships are armed entirely with CSMs (which can't hit sats), the enemy has to attack the ship, often flying through a screen of sats first. It's a shame the computer is too dumb to know how to use these.

Unfortunatly there is no way to launch sats or mines in strategic combat. That can only be done in tactical.

Oh man I'm screwed. I need to retool my entire navy now. I geuss I should have tested this in solo play before trying it in a multiplayer game.

It used to be that sats where launched automatically in strategic combat but the latest (or next to latest, don't remember) patch changed/screwed that so they don't launch at all. So now sats are even more useless. At least in Sim turn PBEM games which is all I play.
