Thanks! Here's hoping it's more stable than the last one.

I've tried a new game with stock 1.58. The core game mechanics are pretty decent now, I didn't really encounter any bugs, but the UI still needs to be optimized alot. The stock AI scripts are still useless. I was surprised when I encountered a group of 5 satellites guarding the warp point into my enemy's systems; then I realized none of the satellites had a single weapon, but were instead filled with only sensor arrays. *shrug*

I expect it'll be decent when BM1.10 gets out.

There's a bug or loophole with research. By turn two I've achieved level 100 of point defense and level 48 in research. (Must be a smart race!!) Note the total percentage of 65636!

Well this is odd. In the save above I used a race I had created and used with previous releases of the game that worked fine. I just created another race along similar lines, and research seems to be working properly. So there must be some kind of loophole or issue with race creation, as opposed to a game bug. But darned if I can spot what it is...

Might have been a change in the way races are generated.

Interesting visual bug - the ninth sun

Any suggestions?

Could be. Just a heads up for those of you that play PBM. If someone opens up a warp point to your home system and hits you with 150 Dreadnoughts on turn 50... somethings up! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I went back and tinkered with that save a little bit, you can spread the points out and be processing several hundred percent on every research item at once. If you wanted to take the time, you could max out all research by turn 50 I think. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

Well I hope you guys enjoy Aaron's hard work. Be sure send him reports on any bugs you come across.

Hi Atrocities, I'm still getting the infamous access errors. Should I send Aaron the save with a description of what to do to cause it? If so to what address? Thanks.

I would. God only knows what might be causing it. I am sure he would want to know. info@malfador.com I believe. Perhaps Captain Kwok knows his current one.

I use se5 rather than info - I'm not sure if the info address is still active...

I suspect that he just has it set to forward all addresses *@malfador.com to one inbox.. Replies always come from malfador at malfador dot com, in my experience.

I'm surprised that I seem to be the only one having a problem. I get cosistent access violations and out of system resource errors with this release on TWO different computers! I sent dxdiag, screen prints, and a save to support@strategyfirst and to info and support@malfador.com. I hope they actually dig into it. The game is unplayable for me, a real disappointment.

I have the same problem but only after using the script parser. And after I get this access errors I just start SE V again and everything works fine. (Windows XP, 512MB RAM).

Is there a new system visibility bug? I just opened a warp to a new system, and it was already mapped, but I had never been there and I didn't change the visibility rules in the game config.
