This isn't a sales pitch or anything, but if you live in a Verizon FiOS area we rolled out two new internet speeds today.
1. 30meg download with 15meg upload. 30/15
2. 15meg download with 15meg upload. 15/15
If you are running your own server this means A LOT greater upload speeds off your server or if you are just a geek you can crank up your speed! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Unless you have some say in getting them to roll out FIOS in my area, I don't care! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/stupid.gif

Trust me man, 56k would be awesome; it's the 28.8k I have that sucks http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Is it really worth it? I have 1-4Mbps on download, 512-1024Kbps on upload (http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/) and I find internet fast enough. Of course I don't do "HD" video streaming, or very intensive peer-to-peer...

I was thinking of all those who run servers out of their home as we seem to have a high ratio of geeks in the SE forums! lol http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
