Well, it's not being too much of a game any more. Zeldor's pretty much unstoppable at this point, as far as I can see..

Niarg
April 29th, 2008, 07:27 PM
If Zeldor is that unstoppable then how about we all throw as much as we can at him for a few turns, then if he still holds the isle we can safely declare him the winner.

JZ

Sounds fair, I am already at war with him and his sidekick anyway. Not that much is happening, couple provinces here and there.

Zeldor
May 1st, 2008, 04:57 AM
Lol, my mages decided it was necessary to cast arrow fend, curse of stones, fire storm, earthquake, warriors of muspelheim, living water, living fire, mass regen, army of gold, army of lead, weapons of sharpness and some other stuff to kill one! anathemant warlock. At least he had some fireworks before death.

Bananadine
May 1st, 2008, 11:10 AM
It would have been so great if those fire elementals had finished surrounding him so that the water elementals could not reach him!

I actually intended to send two poorly equipped mages instead of just one, but the other didn't succeed in teleporting. I guess his spell was blocked by a magic shield? I didn't know that could happen to Teleport.

Bananadine
May 1st, 2008, 11:27 AM
Anyway I think the best idea is for each nation to spend the next two turns gathering as many blood slaves as possible and sending them all to the central isle (which Zeldor will have abandoned) at the end of the second turn, with all commanders ordered to blindly attack one another's armies of addled blood slaves.

It's only fair.

Zeldor
May 1st, 2008, 11:27 AM
Domes try to block every spell that targets that province. Even friendly spells. So it works on artillery spells, teleports, cloud trapezes, site search spells etc. Items that have buil-in spells like Gate Stone, Soulstone of Wolves etc also are blocked.

I really don't like some stupid AI decisions. My army would easily kill that mage with couple low-level free spells.

But yeah, 1 VP http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif 12 months till next one, who wants it?

P.S. I am not sure if I really get that part about blood slaves. I like my blood slaves. And who else has them anyway? I know about you and Pythium [gift of kurgi http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif].

Gregstrom
May 1st, 2008, 12:00 PM
Given that you're researching Blood, it's a fair bet that you have some slaves to hand.

Zeldor
May 1st, 2008, 12:17 PM
Mictlan has Tlalocs with blood magic. There is still a small chance for B on Nahualli.

Bananadine
May 1st, 2008, 12:33 PM
Another way would be for us to grant victory to the person who can muster the most one-armed commanders in, say, four turns.

This would also be pretty fair.

Gregstrom
May 1st, 2008, 04:28 PM
How about the person who can summon the most Bog Beasts in 4 turns?

Bananadine

Well how about just unit count. But to give somebody other than Mictlan a chance, we could rule out say magical units. And also units belonging to nations whose names do not contain a particular letter, say 'y'.

DonCorazon
May 1st, 2008, 07:36 PM
Eriu is going AI or can just stale next few turns while we sort this out. Our last bit of strength was sapped when the legendary Aryndel Oakstaff got mind hunted. Still brings me to tears that a commander who survived so many horrific battles vs. Ermor could die in such an un-warriorlike fashion.
Damn you Pythium! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

We vote for Zeldor since seems like he will win in a protracted battle.

Zeldor

Bananadine:

My traditional army is not so small, but yeah, magical units are a big part now, after army revolution http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I had some heavy fights with them in last couple turns, I think almost 20 brave vine men died.

DonCorazon:

Give me coordinates for your army, I can show some fireworks before that http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif That or next turn.

I didn't start my late-game tactics for Mictlan yet anyway http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

You can zap some Sidhe at 145.

Hmm... someone postponed the turn by 12h.

Who tried to get past my domes?

Agema
May 12th, 2008, 09:29 AM
I'd just like to say I managed to get a Con8 artefact with another to arrive this turn, and I'd like to express my thanks to all the people more advanced than me for leaving a few unforged. It's not there are many interesting things I can do with them as they aren't that exciting, but, y'know, they look shiny in the item vault.

Just little old Eriu. Had a spark of motivation to launch a barrage of Seeking Arrows and a few Sidhe paratroopers that got zapped like bugs on your electro-domes.

I also transformed one of my Tuatha magi into a Salamander. That was cool.

Can I go AI yet? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/yawn.gif

heavy staling about to occur

Zeldor
May 27th, 2008, 04:50 AM
MEh, that is not funny.

And I messed some things up, heh.

I hope that at least Oceania likes my Golems http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Not suffering from Horror attacks, are we?

As a general note: the Astral Corruption is there to slow down Mictlan's SC production.

Zeldor
May 27th, 2008, 05:44 AM
To be honest that global pretty much helps me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I would easily dispel it otherwise.

It does not bother summoners really as they can protect themselves or kill horrors. Forging also does not trigger horrors as that are cheap items.

But that is really bad that 5 people staled. That makes practically you and me left playing.

Gregstrom
May 27th, 2008, 06:11 AM
Well, make sure you only forge with cheap mages then, although I imagine the Forge discount is a pretty big shield there. I should have thought of that. Still, enjoy your Horror Marks.

Zeldor
May 27th, 2008, 06:51 AM
There are no horror marks from Astral Corruption.

Abomination of Desolation looks uber cool though http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Gregstrom
May 27th, 2008, 07:02 AM
Useless damn spell. I was sure it at least marked casters. Unless that was in Dom2 days...

Care to post a screenie of the Abomination?

Zeldor
May 27th, 2008, 07:17 AM
No, there is no marking. Check your forgers and casters, maybe I missed something. From what I know there is a cahnce that forger/caster will simply be attacked by horror. More expensive things and chance is bigger. Also more scary things come. That Abomination came from Wish, though previous turn, when you put Corruption up, there was just a normal Horror against my Wish caster. Oh, and I can afford a lot of mages http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

May 29th, 2008, 08:09 PM
I think it is down to just you two. Can I go AI? For some reason I lost interest in this game a while ago. I think my ally is pretty much out as well.

DonCorazon
May 29th, 2008, 08:14 PM
I have just been letting the turns stale since I have no chance of having any influence on the outcome whatsoever.
Seemed like everyone else was staling as well.

Bananadine
June 1st, 2008, 10:07 PM
Hey, speaking of darkness. What is the difference between darkvision 50 and darkvision 100? I do not see any.

Zeldor
June 1st, 2008, 10:13 PM
With 50 you get just 50% penalty, with 100 you shouldn't get any.

How is your upkeep? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

P.S. I think we should really finish that game with so many people staling...

Gregstrom
June 2nd, 2008, 04:17 AM
Well, I was considering putting a couple of dozen Horror seeds into a hundred militia and sending them on a suicide run into the Isle, but I don't think it'd make a difference overall. So I resign.

Thanks all for a good game, and congratulations to Zeldor on a well-earned victory.

Agema
June 2nd, 2008, 06:09 AM
I'm still sort of playing (staled a few times), but just to keep things ticking over. I just don't have the resources or research to make much of a difference.

However, I'd be happy to declare Zeldor winner if Gregstrom is resigning.

Zeldor
June 2nd, 2008, 06:15 AM
If it changes anything I have about 100k gold stashed and I can live ages with Utterdark.

Bananadine
June 2nd, 2008, 08:19 AM
I have at least a few more turns left in me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

That explanation of darkvision makes sense to me but I haven't seen any penalty on units with 50 instead of 100, in this game or in other games. Maybe it's a bug.

My upkeep is tolerable, thank you. Soldiers would never desert who are fighting for the true god. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Bananadine
June 2nd, 2008, 11:27 AM
Okay, wait, now I am confused. Apparently my pure Abysians with darkvision 50 were indeed taking a penalty--it's just that they don't display it the same way as the humanbred with darkvision 0. When I click a humanbred's Attack Skill value, I see:

Basic Attack Skill: 10
Darkness: -5
Current Attack Skill: 5

But when I click an Abysian Infantry's Attack Skill value, I see:

Basic Attack Skill: 10
Current Attack Skill: 7

So there's a penalty of 3 points that's applied but not listed, and that's what had been throwing me off. I guess this is still a bug in the listing, but that's not nearly as important as a bug in the calculation would be.

Zeldor
June 3rd, 2008, 05:59 AM
You should check around and write anything strange to Edi. Utterdark is not common thing to see so if there are bugs in description etc it is quite possible no one noticed them. I will have to look at my units with dark power too http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

And we declare game finished or what? We need FrozenFalcon for that...

FrozenFalcon
June 4th, 2008, 11:46 AM
Ok, I think we can declare the game finished (sorry for not following this thread). If there's no objections before the next hosting, I'll finish the game then. Winners are Mictlan and R'lyeh (I don't think that anyone is able to beat Mictlan).

Bananadine
June 4th, 2008, 02:33 PM
Oh, so I should do something crazy on my current turn? Or wouldn't I get to see the results? I'd like to see the results. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Zeldor
June 4th, 2008, 02:35 PM
I can teleport smth over your army if you have smth big http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Bananadine
June 4th, 2008, 02:41 PM
Well the only thing is, I've got the biggest army I've had in this whole game right outside the victory point province, and my side is one point away from winning, and the next point is about to be distributed. So although it's unlikely that I will win whatever battle is about to occur, it's frustrating that the game would end right now.

...On the other hand, if this weren't a king-of-the-hill game, Mictlan would obviously be unstoppable. So I think the long-term solution to this problem is to refrain from playing king-of-the-hill games in the future. And do something crazy now, I guess. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Zeldor
June 4th, 2008, 03:16 PM
I wasn't able to use Master Enslave even once http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I also had no chance to teleport like 50 mages into one location. But nah, I would need 2 turns for that. 1 turn to get Golems back to teleporting locations with Returning. After that I can use mass cloud trapeze/teleport/astral travel to move my golems + air queens + couatls + 20 iron dragons + a bunch of juggernauts + 500-1000 jaguar warriors/eagle warriors.

DonCorazon
June 4th, 2008, 03:22 PM
I dont mind keeping it going for bananadine's sake. I was going to send a bunch of kamikazee Sidhes this turn anyway

Zeldor
June 5th, 2008, 12:14 AM
Wow, my Treelord won with Abomination of Desolation!

Bananadine
June 5th, 2008, 01:08 PM
OK I have had my lesson--I fought and defeated C'tis' big army, instead of attacking Mictlan, and I beat them but my own big and silly army was badly damaged in the process. I now have enough data to feel satisfied about my chances of getting the next point. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I will still go for it next turn though, just for fun, unless someone stops the game. After that y'all can do what you want.

Niarg
June 5th, 2008, 03:09 PM
Given there were only two turns taken last time I think we can safely declare the game over.

Well done for defeating my army Banandine, although I feel that I could have done better if I'd set my defence up you really did rip through my defences.

Bananadine
June 5th, 2008, 07:15 PM
Well okay but I am still taking my turn. I mean TECHNICALLY I win for having the least stales, but sometimes it is fun to play a little more after winning.

Zeldor
June 6th, 2008, 05:49 AM
I can put more troops outside the fort if you want to attack the island http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Just tell me when you're ready to end...

Bananadine
June 7th, 2008, 09:45 PM
Hmph, that wasn't so hard. Good thing you put a fortress there Zeldor. I didn't know exactly how that would affect things. It was my final learning experience for this game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Zeldor
June 8th, 2008, 01:21 AM
I didn't know you are going to take that turn after all. I had unscripted 10% of my forces outside.

Zeldor
June 8th, 2008, 01:37 AM
OH, checked it. You lost the battle badly, 0 losses for me.

But nexxt thing is really strange - my mage cast Vortex of Retuning without scripting :|

Gregstrom
June 8th, 2008, 06:20 AM
Looks like Abysia won from my turn file.

Zeldor
June 8th, 2008, 07:16 AM
Technically yes. I had 0 losses and Abysian armies were pretty much dead. And then my mage scripted for Astral Healing cast Vortex of Returning. Seems like the biggest script humanity has ever seen http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I had just small force outside, 750/3,5-4,5k units and around 25/150-200 commanders. [never really counted]

We finish that, right? I can show you my turn file so you can check all there.

Gregstrom
June 8th, 2008, 07:20 AM
I'm happy to finish.

FrozenFalcon
June 8th, 2008, 08:40 AM
That's it then? Shall I declare the game finished?

Bananadine
June 8th, 2008, 11:54 AM

Zeldor
June 10th, 2008, 01:54 AM
I see no reason to continue it.

June 10th, 2008, 10:36 AM
The game is finished. Winners are Zeldor playing Mictlan and moderation (among others) playing R'lyeh.

My last turn file...

Bananadine
June 10th, 2008, 05:38 PM
Haha I have been in half a dozen multiplayer games now--and of those, EpikBattel was the first to start and (so far) the last to end. I learned many things not to do, and then lived with their consequences for months and months!

I've picked EA Abysia in KingMaker--I am gonna do it right this time (maybe)!

Bananadine
June 10th, 2008, 07:37 PM
Uhhh is somebody supposed to put this in the Victorious Nations thread now? (still learning it turns out)

DonCorazon

Good game everyone. Quite painful for me given the war with Ermor so many months ago - I will never do that again...
