Well it looks like Lucas has finally decided to follow through on his 20 year old pledge to bring Star Wars series to the small screen. Bobo Fett (http://tv.ign.com/articles/845/845437p1.html)

It's a much darker, much more character-based thing. It's not as plot-driven [as the movies]." McCallum

I don't know if I should laugh at this comment or be scared by it.

I'll certainly be watching it (unless it ends up like lost). I take what I can from things. I don't expect anything great then I'm never dissapointed. As long as there's lots of spaceships and fighting I don't really care otherwise.

Hopefully they don't go down the same road as recent sci-fi attempts (i.e. Flash Gordon, Terminator etc). Cast the right people, focus on the story, not the demographics. I fear it will be about teenage bounty hunters... Star Wars 90210.

I think it will be directed at kids much like those horrible made for TV movies they made with the EWOK's and that really rancid one made between Star Wars and ESB. Oh the nightmares of that horrible made for TV movie still haunt me even to this day.

If you want good Star Wars, there's lots of good Star Wars books and even fanfiction...

...Not written by George Lucas.

AT,
McCallum's comment is probably based on the notion like the difference between the original Battlestar Galatica and the new series. A much darker realistic version then the original series.

Narf,
If it's not written by Lucas, then it's not (really) Star Wars...
Now is it? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

I just read (listened) to the Rise of Darth Vader. It was pretty good. Next up is Darth Bane: Path of Destruction. The biggest issue I have is that there are a huge amount of books and I am never sure where to start.

I heard that Lucas declared all Star Wars books, no matter the author, canon.

Don't know if it's true or not.

Yeah.

I read books in the order I get them. Works for me. I've read two trilogies backwards.

My understanding is that unless it conflicts with the movies, all of the comics, books and whatever else are canon. But, believe it or not, there are different levels of canon, and I'm confused as to what's what in the SW universe. I just hope this show is good.

...Thank you, AT, for demonstrating why it only sounds like a good idea. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

AT, did you say you were like a "cannon" in your book about Lea? OR did I just misunderstand? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Pretty sure you can't call it cannon when you spell one of the main characters names wrong. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Leia not Lea

Bah. Vader is just jealous that he can't blow up a planet.

...Firefox recognizes 'Vader' - Capitalized - As correct spelling.
