Hello all, this is my first post here http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I have been playing around and making some pretenders and new commanders for me and a friend, and I was trying to use #makemonster1 to let a certain pretender create a commander unit. However, when ever I try it out, the unit summoned is not a commander and has no item slots, ect. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/confused.gif If I do it with a spell, the unit summoned is a commander, but then all the units of that nation (I made it a nation specific spell) with the necessary ability can summon it.

Can #makemonster1 be used to make commanders? Or should I try to go about this a different way? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Its impossible to summon a commander unless through a spell.

Well, can you make a spell specific to a pretender? I can do nation, but not specific units...

Amos is correct... Though I present three alternatives:

Only for your pretender:
The closest approximation would probably to have it require paths or a significant pathlevel you're unlikely to get from national mages. N8 spell or something.

Only for a type of unit:
An alternative is to require a mage/priest combo, of which there would be only the one mage/priest that you can recruit. If you have N3H3 commanders, then only those could cast the spell. The spell would then have a path/holypath requirement. Non-national Mage Priests tend to be rare, and keep in mind that a mage could be made into a prophet to be able to be included.

Only for your prophet:
If you want only one unit to be able to do it, anything requiring let's say, N4H4 would mean only one guy, turned prophet would be doing it.

Also, #onebattlespell can be used to summon commanders in battle. It requires a custom spell, though, which can cause slight problems.

@Endo: Yea, I've read on here that some of those can be tricky, I might try playing around with it.

@Saulot: All good ideas, it hadn't even occurred to me to make it require some holy ability, that would limit it quite a bit.

Thanks all for the help http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

If the spell requires holy 6 or 7 it could be exclusive to a unit with holy 6. I havent tested this but it seems possible. It would also put it out of range of a low level communion.
