Unfortunately it can't be done.

???

Mods are usually archived in a .zip file or similar. Extract the files from inside the archive, and put them in \dominions 3\mods folder. When you go to \mods, you should see modsname.dm file, and usually you'll also see a folder with the mod's name and the mod's graphics inside.

Each mod should have 2 items that you see when you open the mod file, a folder with the graphics and the dm file. If you are still having problems activating mods,it is probably because you are leaving the dm file inside a folder, which is a common outcome when you unzip the mod. Also make sure the graphics are not in a folder within the folder, the game does not see these.

I must still be missing something here. This would work fine if I had a Windows \dominions 3\mods folder directory, but I am using a MAC. I open the Dominions3 package contents, create a mods folder, place the graphics folder(s) inside and keep the .dm file outside and it doesn't work. So I started trying different folders like Resources and it doesn't work. It has been very frustrating for me.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to do it in Mac. If you don't get answers here, post a new thread on the main forum. It seems that the Mac-spesific answer isn't on the Dominions FAQ, so if you do get an answer make sure to send a PM to Edi, preferably with the answer already written in the question-answer format.

On my mac i find it under users/kristoffer/dominions3/mods

The game lies somewhere else (on the desktop, or in my development library, or something), but this is not where the mods are supposed to go.

Don't trust me on this. My dominions files might be organized strangely. I'm not very used to my mac, and JK lies behind most of the the mac stuff.

True, normally Dom3 installs the user files under HOMEDIR/dominions3.

What HOMEDIR is depends on the underlying OS, but should be where one can "expect" to find such things. Some people have no idea how their operating system is structured, of course.

That's the standard Mac location. It is "next to" your saved games folder. You may need to create the "mods" folder if it doesn't already exist. Same thing for a "maps" folder for custom maps.

Thank you! The location was exactly where djo and Kristoffer said it was. All is working fine now. Oddly, the maps work in both locations and mods don't. This is very different from the PC OS.
