My last upgrade project managed to spiral out of control, and all I wound up keeping from the original computer was the power supply. So now I have an almost-complete box sitting in my room getting in the way of everything. I'm not too inclined towards keeping it, since I really don't have the space, let alone enough power sockets to plug in a second computer, so I was figuring on pawning it off on one of my friends.

The only thing is I'm not too sure what it's worth. It's a little over two years old, and consists of:

-AMD Athlon 4400 64 X2 2.4GHz
-2GB RAM
-2x200GB Seagate HDs
-ATI Raedon 1900XTX 512MB graphics card
-Creative X-Fi Platinum sound card (along with a silly front panel with a bunch of input jacks I never used and an IR port, along with a remote control to use with said IR port)
-DVD/+-RW

The only thing missing is the PSU, so anyone I sold it to would have to buy a new one and cable it up, and I had to remove the gigantic heatsink/fan assembly to get the PSU out of the case to begin with, which means the old thermal compound will have to be cleaned off and a new layer applied.

Neither of these tasks would be terribly difficult for anyone I'd sell the machine to, but obviously having to buy some parts and do some work on it before it's up and running would deduct somewhat from the price tag. On the other hand, I'm figuring since I'm selling it to a friend, I can charge a wee bit more, since I'll likely be providing support for it while they get used to the new rig.

Soo... Anyone have any rough ideas on what would be a reasonable asking price?

I do not know, but it sounds like a decent machine. I have a friend who needs one.
Pricing used gear is hard now, cuz you just can't get what it's worth. It's now possible to get a perfectly good Dell for 499.00, capable of everything but high-end gaming. I'm assuming you spent more than that.

If you decide what you want to let it go for, PM or email me.
Thx,
TT
