Anyone familiar with the geek code? http://geekcode.sourceforge.net/
You take a questionnaire and your answers generate a code made up of elements which describe your "geekiness"

I've seen similar codes for other communities (fur code etc), so I think we should have one for SE4. I've put som ideas down, tell me what you all think. I've tried to address all sorts of topics - not just strategy and so on. I think any theme which keeps cropping up on the forum is suitable. Ideas and suggestions please...

Roleplaying
Rp+++ I have worked out all the details of my roleplay race's biology, psychology, technology, history, sociology and cartography. All this is recorded on my roleplaying website, which I update every time a major event happens in one of my games.
Rp++ I always play the same race with a commisioned or home made race style. I stay in character throughout.
RP+ I sometimes get into character during multiplayer games, but it's no big deal.
Rp I've never tried roleplaying, but one day I might.
Rp- C'mon, it's just a game.
Rp-- Roleplayers are sad and embarrassing.

Rp? Roleplaying? What the hell are you talking about? Is this kinky?

Your opinion on TCP/IP:
Tcp+++ Not satisfied with the current multiplayer system, I helped to pioneer Play by Web.
Tcp++ I want TCP/IP play and I'm going to scweam and scweam until I get it!
Tcp+ TCP/IP would be neat. I dream of the day I can play tactical combat over the net.
Tcp If it was there I'd use it, but I'm quite happy with PBEM and PBW for now.
Tcp- What's all the fuss? MM's time would be better spent on other things.
Tcp-- TCP/IP heralds the death of strategy. If you want a realtime clickfest, go buy C&C or Quake or something.

Tcp? You can play this game against other people? I didn't know that.

Frequency: (Time spent playing.)
Fq+++ At any given time I will have several multiplayers going on, a few AI test games and maybe a game against the AI when I need a break. I read every post on 4 differnet forums. Sleep deprivation is starting to make me look like a Phong.
Fq++ I spend too long playing SE4. I have several games going on and I keep up to date with the forums at work and during turn generation.
Fq+ My spouse says I play SE4 too much. My boss says I read the forums too much.
Fq I play quite a bit of SE4, but I play other games as well.
Fq- I play it now and again, but not as much as other games.
Fq-- I hardly ever play SE4 these days.

Fq* I am the PBW server.
Fq% I haven't played the game in months, because I spend my entire life modding it.
Fq! Shhh! My wife might be reading this.

Modding:
M+++++ I don't need to mod the data files becasue I can influence the hard code on the beta forums.
M++++ I maintain a major modpack which addresses issues of game balance, AI behaviour and scientific realism. I spend hours evaluating damage / tonnage ratios in order to introduce new weapons, tech trees and ways of playing.
M+++ I do quite a bit of modding, but I don't make a big deal out of it. Once one of my suggestions/ bug reports got implemented in a patch.
M++ I have tinkered with the data files to put in some changes I wanted.
M+ I've done a shipset, but that's about as far as I'll go.
M I download and use other peoples' mods, but I can't be arsed to do one of my own.
M- I can't keep up with all these mods, I like the game as it is.
M-- Stop playing with it, it'll fall off.

M* I am Aaron.
M? Mod? You mean like scooters and dufflecoats?


Family / Relationships:
Fr++++ My child's first words were "Mineral planets are best!". I'm so proud.
Fr+++ I play SE4 at 3 in the morning when the baby wakes me up.
Fr++ My other half plays SE4 too. Cool!
Fr+ I told him/ her I was into "roleplaying" and s/he seemed interested.
Fr My spouse doesn't play SE4, but doesn't mind me playing.
Fr- S/he doesn't say anything but I know s/he wants me to stop playing.
Fr-- My man/ woman left me because of SE4.

Fr* I fell in love with someone and married them because they could beat me on PBEM.
Fr? I don't have a significant other because I can't find an option for it in the "Propose Treaty" window.
Fr! Single for non- SE4 reasons.


Profession:
P++ There is a strong connection between my profession and SE4 (ie Interstellar Despot. See Rp*)
P+ There is a tenuous link between my profession and SE4 (Games industry, Military)
P There is no connection between my profession and SE4.
P- I work for the competition.

P* I work for Malfador or Shrapnel.
P? I'm a student.
P!- Don't have a job but looking for work.
P!+ Don't have a job and loving it. (More time for games)


AI opinion:
A+++ The SEIV AI is a work of genius. With TDM and a few bonuses it provides all the challenge you could want. What's more, it keeps getting better.
A++ The ability to mod the AI makes it one of the best in the genre.
A+ The AI provides me with an interesting and challenging game.
A The AI is good enough, but you really need to be playing against humans.
A- The AI definitely needs work. Without multiplayer this game would suck.
A-- Are you kidding? My dog could play better than the AI.
A--- Are you kidding? My dog could code a better AI.

A* I am an AI. Your growth is astonishing.
A? I wouldn't know, I've only ever played multiplayer.


Sci-Fi:
Sf+++ I have modded SEIV to simulate the Trek/ B5/ SW/ other universe as accurately as possible. I want to be Darth Vader. Check out my website for more details.
Sf++ I have spent hours trawling scifi websites to find images for my ship sets.
Sf+ I like to play a trek/ SW/ B5/ other mod.
Sf Not bothered. I'll use a sci-fi shipset if the AI is good.
Sf- I avoid AI mods and shipsets if I can, I find they can restrict my roleplaying.
Sf-- Sci- fi mods are so boring. I prefer original, imaginative stuff.
sf--- I hate sciffy geeks and I regularly troll on alt.tv.trek.counsellor.troi.naked.in.marmalade

Caffeine addiction: (How do you get yours?)
C+++ Coffee is the thin line between me and the realm of the undead.
C++ A few cups of coffee a day keep me going.
C+ I drink coffee, but only a little.
C I drink coffee and cola, but for the taste rather than the caffeine.
C- I drink cola sometimes, usually as an alternative to alcohol.
C-- I need lots of cola to survive.
C--- For me it's a simple choice between teeth and sanity. Cola won.

For racial traits, use a "-" to exclude certain things from the R* tag.
EG: R*-A gives "all traits except ancient"

RM = mod racial trait.
To specify which ones, enclose the mod-specific trait code in ()'s.
For P&N, they would be
RM(L) living ships
RM(A) automation
RM(T) tiny race
RM(B) big thinkers
RM(P) pack rats

Note that you should probably specify which mod before the racial traits section, so that this makes more sense.
I'm also thinking that the R* should not include modded racial traits, since they can change rapidly.

Oh, while I'm still on my caffiene high sleep deprivation marathon, in normal geek codes, there are variables. Like most of the time, I may be a Propulsions Experts/Hardy Industrialist junkie sometimes, but occasionally I'll switch to Temporal Tech, or straight stat boosting. Or I might play straight SEIV, but have dabbled in TDM or P&N.

Help needed:
Perhaps some of you L++++ types could help me with the new legacy question. As a lowly L myself I'm not able to give enough detail on L+, L++, L+++. Perhaps the eras of some old games like MOO, Stars & older games.
Sf* : I want one of lines from Star Wars (Word for word) where Vader is in the meeting with th othr admirals (How about the "Do not be too proud of this technoligical terror you have created. The ability to destroy a planet pales into signifigance..." one?)

I think I might have to put this up on my webspace later. I'll do some HTML at work and maybe tonight I can upload it.

Sf++ I have spent hours trawling scifi websites to find images for my ship sets.
Sf+ I like to play a trek/ SW/ B5/ other mod.
Sf Not bothered. I'll use a sci-fi shipset if the AI is good.
Sf- I avoid AI mods and shipsets if I can, I find they can restrict my roleplaying.
Sf-- Sci- fi mods are so boring. I prefer original, imaginative stuff.
sf--- I hate sciffy geeks and I regularly troll on alt.tv.trek.counsellor.troi.naked.in.marmalade

Sf* Do not underestimate the power of the Dark Side.


Your opinion on TCP/IP:
Tcp+++ Not satisfied with the current multiplayer system, I helped to pioneer Play by Web.
Tcp++ I want TCP/IP play and I'm going to scweam and scweam until I get it!
Tcp+ TCP/IP would be neat. I dream of the day I can play tactical combat over the net.
Tcp If it was there I'd use it, but I'm quite happy with PBEM and PBW for now.
Tcp- What's all the fuss? MM's time would be better spent on other things.
Tcp-- TCP/IP heralds the death of strategy. If you want a realtime clickfest, go buy C&C or Quake or something.

Tcp? You can play this game against other people? I didn't know that.
Tcp! None of your damn business!


AI opinion:
A+++ The SEIV AI is a work of genius. With TDM and a few bonuses it provides all the challenge you could want. What's more, it keeps getting better.
A++ The ability to mod the AI makes it one of the best in the genre.
A+ The AI provides me with an interesting and challenging game.
A The AI is good enough, but you really need to be playing against humans.
A- The AI definitely needs work. Without multiplayer this game would suck.
A-- Are you kidding? My dog could play better than the AI.
A--- Are you kidding? My dog could code a better AI.

A* I am an AI. Your growth is astonishing.
A? I wouldn't know, I've only ever played multiplayer.
A% It has the potential to be a great AI, but it still needs work.

Modding:
M+++++ I don't need to mod the data files becasue I can influence the hard code on the beta forums.
M++++ I maintain a major modpack which addresses issues of game balance, AI behaviour and scientific realism. I spend hours evaluating damage / tonnage ratios in order to introduce new weapons, tech trees and ways of playing.
M+++ I do quite a bit of modding, but I don't make a big deal out of it. Once one of my suggestions/ bug reports got implemented in a patch.
M++ I have tinkered with the data files to put in some changes I wanted.
M+ I've done a shipset, but that's about as far as I'll go.
M I download and use other peoples' mods, but I can't be arsed to do one of my own.
M- I can't keep up with all these mods, I like the game as it is.

New Question: MicroManagement / Minister Management.

MM+++ I hate the ministers, they're crap. Besides, who's playing this game, me or the computer?
MM++ If you want it done right, do it yourself.
MM+ I hardly ever use the ministers at all.
MM I only use the ministrs for the boring bits.
MM- I use ministers all over the place. I only deign to intervene when it's absolutly necessary.
MM-- Oh it's a game? I thought you were supposed to just watch the computer play itself.

MM* I want more mocromanagement. I want a game that tracks every person in my 300 planet empire and asks me what the have for breakfast each morning.
