I've been attempting to make a crystalline version of the organic infestation system, to little success. You can see the poor results of simply recoloring the organic infestation frames:

So... anyone feel up to making some fancy new frames for crystalline infestations? For reference, the file needs to consist of 16 128x128 sized frames, like this:

I don't think that's such a bad infestation (ignoring the flowers of course http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Why do you need 16 frames, anyway? I don't quite get how they're organized on the map...

16 frames gives a good amount of random variation.

What would you say to 3D infestations, along the lines of the Von Neumann machine systems we discussed on IRC?

For reference for anyone who wasn't there, I experimented with giving storms actual 3D models, and happened to use the space port facility model with no texture... it looked pretty nifty actually, almost like the Borg home system or something... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Actually, that first crystalline infestation looks pretty neat. Maybe if you made the "shafts" of the crystals bigger around, and less of them... And lost the flowers of course. I wouldn't know how to generate something like that myself. Maybe he knows (http://www.digitalblasphemy.com/mpages/p2k5/a1.shtml).

I have a queston: how does it work in a battle

1. the ships that fly through it get damage
2. it slowly kills off crew members

I think the flowers can be changed to crystal blulb that glows
