I think that, like Ulm´s wolfherder, he should get a makemonster ability. This is my suggestion:

#selectmonster 296
#gcost 200
#makemonster2 1842
#end

I make him make small hydra hatchlings, because a trial with the middle sized pythium hydras proved to be overpowered. (through, by a fluke, I discovered that there is an even BIGGER hydra variant). The idea is that you get hatchlings as freespawns and use them to support your main hydra force, possibly as a meatwall. You dont get too many too fast, so this isn´t really an exploit on buying them (who buys hatchlings anyway?)

I think he should also wear hydraskin armour (not my idea, but very fitting), and carry a poisoned trident.

I was thinking about doing this for CB, but it seems a major change in a unit's role/ability (even when it starts as none) might be too confusing. Also I didn't want to undermine buying the hatching which is cheaper in CB.

Still, I could be convinced. :)

There you go, Poopsi, bake Quantum_Mechani a dozen chocolate chip cookies, and you should get your hydra tamer.
