SO, I'm doing a quick little test game, just to compare some ship designs, and this is the starting position I end up with! Why can't I ever get a start like this in a real game?!?! http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

This was a random map generation. Did not play with the map editor.

And one of these planets has ruins!

I always get things like this
doing Tech Tests when testing mods and so on I get wonderful starts... but in PBW games, or hotseat games I'm lucky if I have one non-breathable colonisable in my system.

LOL, in my games I'm lucky if I land in a system with only 3 enemies near it. Typically I'm pulling 8 or 9 next door and the others are just scattered about.

Holy Mackerel! Talk about a perfect start for roleplaying an isolationist race! Wait -- are those good mineral planets? There must be a fly in the ointment somewhere.
