Great news about the next patch comming out by the end of this month.
Does anyone have any news regarding what will be in the patch?
Any news on whether the changes have been decided on? Any new changes possible?
If we are still allowed to make suggestions I would like to see more vehicle types. Ship1, Ship2, Ship3, etc. This will allow us to make size specific components like real dreadnaught engines vs frigate engines.
or
Drones.

We just need to get more options other than "none" and "one per vehicle".

SJ, you are right, but I want to ensure that the AI selects the proper component, not the best. IIRC right now if I have two engines, one for a frigate at 15kt that provides 1 standard movement point and a Battleship engine at 80kt that provides 1 standard movement point, I want the AI to use the battleship engine on battleships and the frigate engine on frigates. Right now, can I get the AI to select the 80kt engine for the battleship? The AI always seems to pick the 15kt engine.

That is a completely different issue, in that the AI is not bound by restrictions of any sort.
If give the plan in Shipdesign.txt, you could have an AI-built Cruiser with 30 engines, no MC and one each of B/LS/CQ, 20 Massive-Mount WMGs, and three Spaceyards.
