Probably you've seen it too. Sometimes when generating a new game, the SE4 crashes showing a range check error or something like that.
The error appeared during the "Player placement in progress..."
The error was surely generated by a randomly picked shipset, but I couldn't know which one.
After many hours of testing all my installed shipsets (total of 108) I pinpointed the problem to your Breen and Trekos shipsets, and then it took me a while to discover what the error was.
It's a simple spelling mistake in the AI_General files, you put "Gas" in Planet Type, when you should have put "Gas Giant"
It seems that misspelling the planet type makes SE4 try to assign them a planet that does not exist, thus generating an error. And it is a very annoying error since it happens after you carefully configured your new game and before you can save the game.
