10/23/08 - New Game Announcement
Hey everybody, yes we are still alive! We're hard at work on our next game. Its going to be a turn-based conquer the world strategy game. As soon as screenshots are available, we'll post them here. Happy Halloween!
Perhaps a true ground combat engine for SE:VI? Well, we can dream right? It'd be great though if it were published with Shrapnel...

Like Risk, or like Hearts of Iron?. I've liked both types. I even made a mod once for Hearts of Iron.

No details on it. I'd suspect like Space Empires, but not in space. :P

I think SE5 has one more patch in it. After all, SE4 got a patch and localization versions during SE5's development.

I'd be interested in a planet version of SE. It could be like civilisation, creating a new planet at the start of the game. It would also be a bit different because you have to develop not just land, but sea and air units as well. I can just forsee starting a new game and discovering you started on an island, so you have to research navy, while someone else is the equivalent of Russia and can just use army to sweep across a continent.

That was how the new space combat system for SE V was developed. Starfury was a testbed for the new technology. If he wants to have a more elaborate ground game in SE VI, it makes sense that he'd develop a new ground game to test his ideas first.

I would also enjoy a planet based sci-fi game. You govern one new colony, oversee it's social and economic defense, deploy short ranged units to defend it (sats, mines weapon platforms) and let someone else (the game's AI, based somewhat on your decisions) worry about defending the void of space. If MM's new game is something like that, I would be interested.

I'd be interested in a planet version of SE. It could be like civilisationI spent much of this weekend playing Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire. That was my favorite game until SEIV surpassed it.

I figure it\'ll be a game like Empire/Empire Deluxe, but with options that include designing units and building up cities etc.

I wouldn't bet on that. One maybe two more patches most likely before end of support.

If it could be integrated into SEV (and SEIV?) as a ground combat option, this would be awesome. As a stand-alone 4x "conquer the world" (CTW) game, it already has a lot of competition, not least from various Sid Meier games. (Not to mention games available from Shrapnel.)
What have been the deficiencies of previous CTW games that you hope might be addressed in this new game? What are the features that would make you shell out money?
