Despite having the CD in the drive etc. I have a SoundbLaster Live 128 Soundcard. Any solutions would be appreciated.
Cheers.

While playing, press F2 (game menu), go to options, and check the box "CD sound"

makse shure that you have a small (normally grey)audio cable running from the cd player to the sound bLaster live.
Your sound card uses this cable to transfer the audio from cd to your sound card.

You will find that after about 8 hours of gaming. You will wonder why you ever wanted to listen to the music in the first place. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

You're a far better person than I to Last 8 hours! I think the first track was enough to convince me to load up Winamp.

Did not make it 8 hours either. Just exagerating ( bad spelling ) to prove a point.
I usually listen to what I downloaded from emusic or jazz

Same here. Especially when you have to sort out the orders for 15+ transports that makes up the logistic network for your 6 attack fleets and 100 planets...

Most of my tiny CD collection is far too mellow for SE IV. The only ones that really go well are the classical collection disks. Especially disk 1, which includes the William Tell Overture, 1812 Overture, and Blue Danube.

Yeah, but when your attack strategy unfolds and your fleets move in, a bit of "Ride of the Valkyries" fits right in...

Slightly of topic but for first person shooters I like to play occasionally listening to Trigger Happy by Wierd Al
I got an ak47 and you know it makes me feel allright.
