View Full Version : Mod for Map Icons?

I'm not sure about anyone else, but my map gets crowded very quickly with unit icons (see attachment). Is there a mod out there that does this better? It's nice seeing the unit types, but part of me wants the old Warlords-style flags that get longer.
Any help/thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

There's no way to mod that.
However you might try changing the #defaultzoom on a map. I think if you fiddled about with that you could get provinces to be large enough on the screen that you can navigate properly, while the unit icons were very small and unobtrusive.
You could also stop playing with LA Ermor and LA Rlyeh.

Thanks a lot. I'll play around with that zoom some. Can I mod that mid-game? Do you know what the default value is? #defaultzoom isn't in my glory.map or glory_multiplayer.map files.

The default depends on how large a map you are using but try
#defaultmapzoom 1.5 as a starting point.
Im not sure if you can change that midgame. I dont think the game reads the map again once the game has started.

I haven't been able to change the map zoom after a game was started. It makes testing it for finding a good size VERY annoying.

Because the .map information is being encoded into the fatherlnd file on the first hosting and then the file is never being read again. It should be enough to open the map in the Map Editor to see the default map zoom. You'll have to restart the game in-between changes, but still better than starting a game.

Oh, the map editor! That'll be much easier than creating a new game every time... :o

Yeah defaultzoom is a total pain. If you don't get it right though it's even worse.
