I've got a starmap question for SE4 that's driving me nuts:doh:

I tried to use a new starmap for my mod, and it didn't take.

On a whim, I removed to STOCK starmap from the Stock folders, REPLACED it with my new one, and started a game.

And it was the ORIGINAL starmap still, despite NOT being named the same or even still in ANY SE4 folders anywhere !!!

Is this a hard-coded thing, or am I missing something?

Maps from one mod will not work in other mods if you change anything in the planet data files. I had this problem once when I added some unused planets from the data file. It hosed over the maps I had made as the game loads in data from the file in specific order. The "NEW" order changed all the file data loaded into the map and made it unusable. Your problem may be based on the game not being able to generate a map from your mod folder in a similar mode.

BK, if you want to use a speciffic map, you will have to declare it in the game setup menu. IIRC the game generates a random map for all games based on the paremeters in the setup menu unless you specifically tell it to use your map.

Remember one thing when working with the map editor, Save and save often (under different version names) as the editor had some problems.

Thanx for that, but the Starmap image was the issue, not so much the map of systems

Sorry BK. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, and I think mine may be wasted!
